Maruti Suzuki sold 105,559 units in January 2015, a growth of 9.3 percent over the same period last year. This comes at a time when there has been a roll back in excise duty. In this financial year, Maruti Suzuki has had a dream run and is on the cusp of crossing the one million sales mark with two more months to go.
Sales of the Maruti Ciaz are back to levels it had reached around its launch and the Ertiga sold over 6,000 units in the past month too. As for the entry level hatchback segment, sales have dropped 7.3 percent. Other hatchbacks in the Maruti Portfolio – Swift, Ritz and Celerio and also the sub 4-metre Dzire sold well in January posting a growth of 7.5 percent in the segment.
Even exports almost doubled in the past month to 11,047 units from 5,847 units in January 2014. Total domestic sales till January grew by 12.6 percent and total sales including exports have grown by 13.9 percent for this financial year. Maruti Suzuki is expected to launch the updated Dzire this month and bring in the diesel Celerio and the SX4 S-Cross in a few months time to strengthen its position in the market.
