MIMS prepares to kick up dirt!

The Sportscraft Supercross will be amongst the plethora of events at the 2011 Mumbai International Motor Show for the pleasure of all motorheads, and will go on for all three days of the event

Roaring engines, knobby tyres, the smell of fuel fumes in the air and the light, agile and superfast motorcycles ripping through dirt and catching air over jumps. If the picture appeals to you, here's the time to catch it in real life at the 2011 Mumbai International Motor Show, which will include a spectacular round of competitive supercross.



Organized by Sportscraft under the aegis of Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India, the supercross will bring the excitement of one of the most entertaining forms of motorsport. Supercross is a race where riders astride specially modified motorcycles compete on either a natural or an artificial surface consisting of jumps and other obstacles.

Seen in action at the event will be previous dirt track champions and also the leading riders from TVS Racing Team. The length of the track would be about 300 mtrs course consisting of difficult corners and high jumps which will test the skill of the riders. For the qualification in each class, groups consisting of maximum 4 riders will be selected to form various groups in each class depending on the number of entries received. The groups will be selected by draw. The first two winners in each of the above group will be selected for next qualifying round to finally select the four finalists in each class.

The bounty for the valiant and skilled winners is high as well, with a total purse of Rs 1.6 lakh for riders who finish on the podium. The event will be held on MMRDA Ground Bandra Kurla Complex, Opp Diamond Bourse & CitiBank, Bandra East Mumbai, from 20th – 22nd January 2011 between 1:00 p.m. - 4 p.m.



A maximum of 12 entries will be accepted in each class on first come basis. The first 35 non-local riders who’ve made their way to Mumbai for the event will also be offered start money. More details of the event are available in the event Supplementary Regulations. The Supplementary Regulation and entry form with indemnity are all posted on site www.sportscraftindia.com. As for viewers, don’t miss this one for it promises one of the hottest motorsport events of the year!

Indian Novice Motorcycles up to 165cc                             Group C            4 Stroke
Indian Expert Class Foreign motorcycles up to 250cc         Group A            2 & 4Stroke
Indian Expert Class Motorcycles up to 260cc                    Group B             2 & 4Stroke
Private Expert Class Foreign motorcycles up to 250cc        Group A             2 & 4Stroke
Private Expert Class Motorcycles up to 260cc                    Group B             2 & 4Stroke
