Armed with a new range of in-car entertainment systems Kenwood plans to make the most of growing demand in the market for these systems

Kenwood Corporation is going to release 20 new car entertainment and navigation systems nationwide through its dealers. Some models have already been launched in May and the rest will be launched over the next few months. Kenwood aims at capturing market share for car entertainment systems that range from basic stereos to top of the line 2-DIN stereos and DVD players.

The new range of stereos will come with USB connectivity, memory slots depending on the model for easy music transfer from the PC to the car. The new range of stereos will feature fast and easy music file searches on a user friendly interface. Kenwood have also launched new versions of their 6x9-inch speakers that enjoyed excellent sales last year. The sound quality will be excellent which is a Kenwood trademark.

The growing new car market in India is the reason for growing demand for car entertainment systems in the aftermarket. Yasuaki Imaizumi, President of Kenwood Asia said, “Sales in 2010 were up 50% from the previous year and 100% from 2008, thanks to the ever-expanding line-up of car visual and audio systems that we are introducing with the strong support and extensive service network of our distributor, Nippon Audiotronix Ltd.” Kenwood sold three million units in 2010.

In addition to entertainment systems the launch of their navigation system should give Kenwood a good entry into the next thing in the automobile business, built in GPS systems.
