The Nissan Skyline is an absolutely legendary automobile with enough street credibility and racetrack glory to last a century. The R34 generation, possibly the greatest of them all, was made between 1999 and 2002 and feature several special editions. The Nismo R-Tune though, was undoubtedly the greatest one of them all.
Autoart has always made some great Nissan Skylines, and the R-Tune is possibly the feather in their cap. Although the R-Tune is available in a range of colors, the best by far is the one seen here with its bright red flawless paint and 5-spoke white wheels. The classic Nismo livery and a host of performance decals on the side and the hood complement the tuner look of this car perfectly.
Skyline aficionados might recognise how the R-Tune gets an added layer of aerodynamic aids including a carbonfibre splitter up front, a more detailed carbonfibre spoiler and a completely redesigned rear bumper with added ground effect aids. All these details, including an extremely realistic weave to all the carbonfibre parts have been well captured by Autoart. The wheels too, a set of Nismo’s own LMGT4, looks fantastic in white in contrast with the car’s overall bright red.
Open the engine bay and the details are astonishing. The legendary RB26DETT engine is extremely well detailed and there is even a small rod to hold the bonnet up just like in the real car. The twin turbos, the intake manifold and the actual engine block and head are well detailed in true Autoart fashion. The stainless steel strut bar and the fuse box on the left front are particular favourites due to the sheer amount of detail that has gone into them.
The simple interior of the Nissan Skyline R34 is well complemented by a set of accurately represented Nismo racing bucket seats and a set of 5-point harnesses. The small steering wheel combined with the short gear shifter and the dashboard itself is extremely accurate and is worthy of the high asking price that this model commands. There is more carbonfibre decaling on the B-pillar that becomes even more obvious once you open the pillarless doors exposing the well-replicated windows.
On the whole, any Nissan Skyline or tuner car fan should without a doubt have one of these models in their collection. Although Autoart did re-release these cars recently, judging from how quickly they have been selling, the Nissan Skyline R34 Nismo R-Tune is definitely a future classic.
