A remote boot release saves you the trouble of walking out of the car and using the key to unlock the boot lid of your car for security personnel at the mall. Read on to more

Almost all cars today come with a remote boot release or remote tailgate release as they are sometimes known. There is a small lever just below the driver’s seat or a button located somewhere in the dashboard that can be pulled up or depressed and the tailgate pops open. However the boot can also be opened from the outside by slotting the car key in the key hole.

The remote boot release is a great feature as you never have to get out of the car to open the boot for the security people to check your boot while driving into the parking lot of a mall or a hotel.

Placed right next to the lever that opens the boot is another lever that can be pulled up to open the fuel filler lid of your car. That means you never have to get out of the car and use the car key to open the fuel lid so that the fuel pump attendant can refuel your car.

Normally the levers for remote release are placed on the floor of the car just below the driver’s seat, however, cars like the Ford Figo have a button placed on the dash board for remote boot release. Different cars have these release buttons and levers located in different places in a car. Identify these while buying the car or it may take you a while to locate these levers when you need to use them.
