New generation ZOHe brake calipers from Bosch have been designed to improve fuel efficiency, improve brake feel and decrease wear and tear of brake pads

Come 2012 and Bosch will be launching their new range of Bosch ZOHe (zero offset harmonised evolution) brake calipers. The engineers at Bosch have improved the rigidity of the calipers and guidance for brake pads and the housings. The calliper assumes an optically symmetric position which reduces clearance leading to more pedal feel and reduces brake pad wear. The new system has less noise and vibration due to more accurate machining and installation.

These new brake calipers can be installed on both front and rear axles of all classes starting from small passenger vehicles to light commercial vehicles. Bosch will offer an electric motor on the rear axle as an option for a parking brake instead of a traditional cable hand brake. All ZOHe brake calipers can be had with single or dual pistons.

ZOHe brake calipers come in two variants, one is made out of iron and the other out of aluminium. The iron variant is 5% lighter than current brake calipers while the aluminium variant is 7% lighter. The new brake calipers are lighter and more rigid than existing calipers, this helps improve brake performance and feel.
