The executive bike of the year saw lot of action with established motorcycles receiving a facelift and new contenders entering the fray. We list down the final contenders who made it through to the 2014 ET ZigWheels Awards Jury Round

Nominees:

1. Suzuki Gixxer

2. Bajaj Discover 150S/F

3. Yamaha FZ FI V2.0

4. Hero Xtreme

Yamaha finally gave the FZ an update in the form of the new FZ FI Version 2.0. As the name suggests, the bike has been equipped with fuel injection and reduced power output to hike its fuel efficiency with a new tech christened “Blue Core” by Yamaha. Other updates on the bike include a mild styling update and new features. Suzuki upped the ante in the 150cc segment by launching the Gixxer. Apart from a peppy engine, beautiful styling and decent pricing, what makes the Gixxer standout are its handling dynamics and riding ergonomics. Bajaj Auto launched two offerings in the form of the Discover 150F and 150S. The highlight of the new offering are its cutthroat pricing which is on par of many 125cc segment motorcycles making the Discover 150S the cheapest motorcycle on sale in the 150cc spectrum. Hero also launched the new Xtreme with revised styling and added features to make it stand out in the company of its peers.

We asked Preetam to pick his choice in the executive segment, for which he replied, “It was a difficult choice to make but for me the Suzuki Gixxer will be my choice. It’s got very good looks, good performance and handling to stand apart in the 150cc segment.”
