BMW gets a dash of excitement into its range with its 4-door M6 Gran Coupe

BMW has added a third body variant to its BMW M6, the Gran Coupe 4-door adding to its current range comprising of the Coupe and the Cabriolet. The BMW M6 Gran Coupe is the motorsport version of the BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe saloon which will go up against the likes of the newly launched Audi RS7 and the soon to be launched Mercedes CLS63 AMG. 

The BMW M6 Gran Coupe stylistically builds on the 6 Series Gran Coupe with a more aggressive body kit including a special carbon fibre roof that is exclusive to the BMW M models. The M6 Gran Coupe comes with 19-inch or optional 20-inch alloy wheels with an aggressive design, which adds to the sporty appeal of the M6 Gran Coupe. The M6 Gran Coupe also gets a set of much sportier bumpers including a larger air intake on the front combined with flared wheel arches. The rear bumper also gets the trademark BMW M quad-pipes and a diffuser that adds to both visual appeal of the M6 Gran Coupe and adds to the performance aspect of the car.

The new BMW M6 Gran Coupe is a part of the third generation M6 family and gets the same 4.4-litre V8 engine from the current generation BMW M5. The M6 Gran Coupe gets 568PS from its twin-turbo V8 and 678Nm of peak torque. The propels the BMW M6 Gran Coupe from 0-100kmph in 4.1 seconds, which is 0.3 seconds faster than the heavier M5 and on to a restricted top speed of 250kmph. The BMW M6 Gran Coupe can also be derestricted giving it a top speed of 306kmph making it faster than most supercars. The twin-turbo V8 engine, coded S63T is an evolution of the one used on the X5 M and X6 M and produces power from as low as 1500rpm all the way to 5750rpm making it extremely usable in both normal and spirited driving conditions. It also gets the BMW twin-clutch 7-speed gearbox with paddle shifters. Just like the M5 and the M6 Coupe and Cabriolet, the M6 Gran Coupe also gets a host of driver adjustments, which allow the driver to set the car up exactly how he or she desires. 

The M6 Gran Coupe also comes luxuriously appointed with a whole host of features. With standard leather interiors and 20-way power adjustable and heated M Sport seats, the interior of the M6 Gran Coupe is well appointed. It comes standard with a 10.2-inch display with inbuilt navigation, rear-parking camera with 360-degree parking assist. The BMW M6 Gran Coupe also gets with a 12-speaker premium audio system with HD radio and an iPod adapter, dual-zone automatic climate control and a keyless entry andstart system.

The M6 Gran Coupe could essentially be identified the coupe version of the god-like BMW M5 sedan. With the M6 Gran Coupe’s coupe-like silhouette and pillar-less doors adding a sense of extra appeal to the car, the M6 Gran Coupe could very well be one of BMW’s most user-friendly 4-door super coupes ever made. The BMW M6 Gran Coupe will be available in India by mid-2014 and should cost somewhere in the region of Rs 1.3-1.5 Crore (ex-showroom).
