Peter Sauber, Team Principal of the Sauber F1 team recently confirmed that current team CEO Monisha Kaltenborn will be his successor

Monisha Kaltenborn, CEO, Sauber F1 Team

Peter Sauber who returned to his role of Team Principal of the Sauber F1 Team in 2009, had previously stated that he no longer wants an active role in running the team after the end of this year. The Swiss national will turn 69 this year and recently reaffirmed that current CEO Monisha Kaltenborn will be the successor to his post.

"I have always said that I will not be sitting on the pitwall as a 70 year old," the Sauber Team Principal said. With certainty, my successor is Monisha Kaltenborn. That is for sure. When it (the handover) happens is still open,” he added.

Monisha has been with the Swiss team for the past thirteen years, and will become the first Indian woman Team Principal in Formula 1.

Sauber had previously taken a leave from the pitwall when he sold majority stake to BMW and handed over the team to Mario Theissen. But he came to the rescue when BMW declared its withdrawal from Formula 1 in 2009.

Sauber also hinted that this time round his retirement would be final and is confident that Monisha will do the job very well.
