Pirelli tyres for F1 2012

With the end of the first test of the Formula 1 2012 season over, official tyre supplier brings forth the tyre options for the first three races – Australia, Malaysia and China.

The teams will be provided with the Italian manufacturer’s White Medium compound PZeros and Yellow Soft compound PZeros for the opening race of the season, the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne’s Albert Park. Pirelli will then bring in their hard compound Silver PZeros and the Medium compounds for the second race at the Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia on the 25th March, 2012. For the third race of the season, Chinese Grand Prix at the Shanghai International Circuit, the tyre manufacturer brings in the softs again.

According to the new rules and regulations for the 2012 season, each team will receive 11 sets of tyres for the race weekend – Six sets of harder compounds and five sets of softer compounds. Pirelli’s green Cinturatos for damp track (four sets per race)conditions and the new Blue compounds for wet weather conditions (three sets per race) will also be made available in each race for days when the rain gods choose to shower their love on the drivers.

Although teams were slightly sceptical about the tyre's performance at the start of the 2011 season but it eventually did turn out to be a successful year for the tyre supplier. The new tyres host slightly softer compounds that will grip better and will are two seconds faster than last season’s rubber. According to Pirelli, the new compounds will make for much more entertaining races and with one fourth of the grid occupied by champions there’s hardly a doubt. Let the season begin!
