Although Ferrari will debut its 2013 challenger at the first pre-season test that is scheduled for February 5, Fernando Alonso will not be seen behind the wheel and the Spaniard will use this time for physical training before he drives the car for the fist time on February 19 at Catalunya.

The first leg of the season is physically quite taxing on the drivers taking into consideration that they move from Australia to Asia to Europe, all of which have varied weather conditions. In the same line of thought, Alonso has chosen to opt out of the first pre-season testing to focus harder on his physical training.

However, Ferrari will debut the 2013 contender with their second driver Felipe Massa and the recently appointed development driver Pedro de la Rosa. Massa will drive the new Ferrari from February 5-7 before he hands over the wheel to Pedro de la Rosa for the last day of the first test.

Alonso will debut the Ferrari for the first time in the second pre-season test on February 19 at Catalunya. The Spaniard will drive for three days before handing over to his team-mate Massa. In the last pre-season test from February 28 - March 3, both drivers will have two days behind the wheel of the new Ferrari.
