Drama came in the form of the 1910 Brooke with its special Swan body built not for a Maharaja but for an Anglo-Indian resident of Calcutta. The eccentric Scotsman Robert Nicholl Mathewson built it in the manner it is so that the swan’s eyes would light up and steam hiss from its nostrils whenever he encountered traffic on his daily commute in Calcutta
