You may have read about all the cars in contention for the ultimate ZigWheels honour in 2008 and must have appreciated that there indeed was going to be a massive dogfight for the top slot. It was so tight that we ourselves couldn't have imagined it going down to the wire and expectedly in two categories which are seeing not just the biggest interest among consumers but also the fact that these segment specialists are now beginning to heed to punter-play like never before.

So without further ado ladies and gentlemen, put your hands together for the Suzuki A-Star and the Honda City which have been declared the Cars of the Year 2008 by the ZigWheels editorial team. Both cars logged in with 61 points apiece from our eight staffers who used their allotted 20 points to be spread across the four shortlisted finalists. In fact the tie-breaker rule also failed because both cars got the equal first choice votes from four staffers apiece and instead of trying to nitpick, we decided it was much too close to call and thus these two cars create history by making it to the ZigWheels roster in 2008.

For both Honda and Maruti-Suzuki, winning is not something alien to them. Having been at the forefront of high quality motoring delivery to consumers in their respective classes, the City and the A-Star were the undoubted pick of the crop in 2008. Maybe things were a little weak on the ground if these two were taken against their class rivals and here things got even more interesting.
