Maruti Suzuki's grip over the upper C-segment with the SX4 has been loosening of late, thanks to the assault of the Ford Fiesta Duratorq and Hyundai Verna CRDi.

But Suzuki's international alliance with Fiat for its versatile diesel engine is the best solution to counter this, as Maruti Suzuki is expected to do. Internationally, the SX4 comes with the 1.6 and the 1.9-litre diesel options, but Maruti could throw a stinker and employ the Swift?s 1.3-litre diesel.

1.3D Sx4 would be underpowered and sluggesh. So I hope Maruti doesnt mess up, because Fiat Bravo & Linea is on the loose | Reply

Boss, take it or leave it but currently SX4 happens to be the best value-for-money in its segment and overall as we all have been forced to agree by sheer practicality, its way ahead in power, drive train, cost of overall ownership, even fuel consumption @ 10kpl in city with AC on, than its nearest competitor Honda City (i am forced to chew my own words on this, since I blasted SX4 in 2007 when it was launched - I own a City!!). So Boss, if they come out with a diesel now (it better be a 1.9L version!!) then with that look (redesign the A-pillar pl) & that power train in Diesel, man I am gonna BUY two!! Anytime! Anybody who wants to buy my City???? 45K, 2007, Single owner & driven, silver, new tyres!!!.....But let SX4-D get launched! | Reply

Maruti people are bizzare designers oflate first they messed up zen by designing estilo then they introduced fat bodied swift and then making it look more foolish by adding boot n launchong dzire then aping i10 front for astar. i think maruti will hire good designers. they should have introduced sx4 diesel earlier it will be a great combo good looking car and best fiat's diesel engine | Reply
