New Maini Reva

8 Jan 2009

New Maini Reva

In India by: late 2009

Will cost: Rs 4.5 lakh

After their first attempt at an all-electric car, Maini is all set to launch an improved, larger version of the REVA later this year.

The new electric bug promises more features, improved battery life and flexible seating, which would mean the car could probably accommodate 4 people. The REVA has already won hearts in Europe with its electric appeal, and will be looking to use its international experience to market the car better in India. Maini is also working on a Li-Ion battery option, which would decrease the REVA's weight drastically and provide more range.

Other Hatchbacks to be launched in 2009
 Toyota small car  Tata Nano
 Honda Jazz  Chevrolet Beat
 Fiat Bravo  Fiat Grande Punto
Suzuki Splash/Ritz  Ford Fiesta / Mazda 2 hatchback
New Chevrolet Aveo U-VA  Nissan Micra / March
Renault Sandero  Skoda Fabia 1.9 TDI

FEW THINGS SHOUD BE CONSIDERED BEFORE BUYING THIS CAR THE BATTERY BACKUP ,BOOT SPACE AND THE MAINTENANCE COST WHICH SEEMS TO BE VERY HIGH AS ACCORDING TO THE PRICE TAG . | Reply

Reva has been making efforts to make its presence felt in the automobile market in India. But its efforts have not been very fruitful so far. First thing is about its look. It could be much better. Driving it on battery is not going to be very practical and successful. If I have to decide I would like to run it with approx 500 cc petrol engine having a capacity to seat two persons only. Of course there will be boot space to carry some luggage for country drive. | Reply

Price tag is the reason for its absence on the roads. Naini needs to do something to get volumes and offer it at a reasonable price. I like this car ! | Reply

Bringing the Price Down to a reasonable low level to compete with other petrol cars can only help in augument the Sales for REVA. | Reply
