If just about any Rolls-Royce doesn’t cut it for you, allow us to present you this, the extremely rare Rolls-Royce Hyperion from the revered design house of Pininfarina

Rolls-Royce Hyperion

When you think of Pininfarina, the first marquee you normally associate with them is Ferrari. The legendary car designer from Italy has achieved cult status in the motoring world for their work on the Ferrari 250 LM, 512S, Superamerica, and many more. But it is not just Ferraris that are Pininfarina’s claim to fame, as their work with Lancia, Alfa Romeo, and Maserati will attest to.

This here is something even more special than that. The one-off Rolls-Royce Hyperion’s story started in 2008 when the Phantom Drophead Coupe-based creation was presented at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. According to Rolls-Royce, the Hyperion was commissioned by a gentleman who had €4.5 million (approximately $6 million) to spare on a one-off luxury car. And it is pure Pininfarina, at least on the outside.

Part of the reason for that whooping price tag – apart from the badge, of course – will become clear when we tell you that the bodywork is made of pure carbon fibre. Noteworthy for a Rolls-Royce. Other than the dissimilarities in exterior design, the Rolls-Royce Hyperion differs from the Phantom Drophead Coupe inside too. The biggest difference is that the Hyperion is a strict two-seat convertible while the Phantom Drophead Coupe can entertain you and three of your buddies.

On top of that, the Hyperion features an azure blue carbon fibre body and two-seater interior covered in rich off-white leather with complimenting wood accents, which include stunning wood insertions on the dashboard and doors. The luxury auto is complete with a 15-speaker Lexicon sound system, navigation and Bluetooth wireless system.

Motive power in the Hyperion comes from a 6.75-litre naturally aspirated V12 engine that produces 460PS and 720Nm of torque, and is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. This luxury barge on wheels can reportedly sprint to 100kmph from standstill in a not-so-sedate 5.7 seconds.

And now, for the fourth time since its birth, this piece of automotive art is up for sale for only 2 million dollars. If you are the sort of plutocrat that doesn’t bat an eyelid at the staggering price tag, please head here.
