Nautillus car goes under the hammer

Stephen Norrington’s, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, was a 2003 superhero flick which saw Sean Connery and Naseeruddin Shah share screen space together. This movie had a character named Captain Nemo which was played by Naseeruddin Shah who had a six-wheeled Nautillus car which was seen throughout the movie. This car is all up for sale and will be auctioned this coming month.

The vehicle is based on the Land Rover fire tender and is adapted via a steel frame with a V8 engine borrowed from the Rover running under the hood. An ivory coloured fibreglass shell covers the chassis which features embellishments in gold effect on both the exterior and interior. The interior is trimmed with faux leather and even features the original Land Rover dials.

The Nautillus car is designed by Carol Spier and is fully functional. This  vehicle featured heavily on the promotional posters of the 2003 superhero flick.

For the last few years, the car has been part of a large collection of movie props and costumes at Prop Store's UK facility. According to Stephen Lane, Founder, Prop Store, the Nautillus car was bought by him from the film company after The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen  flick was released. He states that he loved the design of the car and felt it was one of the most emotive vehicles that he had ever seen. He further stated that he has driven this car at  the Lord Mayor's Show and felt that it’s now time to let someone else own it and enjoy it.
