Incredible: Hero MotoCorp sells one lakh bikes online worth Rs 500 crore

Hero MotoCorp is riding high on its success currently. The two-wheeler maker clocked sales of one lakh units of bikes and scooters worth a whopping Rs 500 crore in a short span of just five months. This feat is reportedly the first by any two-wheeler manufacturer in the country.

Hero Motocorp had partnered with the online trading portal in December 2014. According to a top offical of this online trading portal the response from customers had been fantastic through all these months.

Overwhelmed by the response, the Delhi-based two-wheeler manufacturer is working to develop its own online retail sales venture, which is speculated to go live later this year. The company states that it was the first time it had experimented with the online platform. The firm now has plans to experiment by setting up a virtual showroom soon.

Sales report for the country’s largest two-wheeler maker hasn’t been good last month. The company managed to sell 5,31,750 units in March, 2015 as opposed to 5,24,028 units in the same period last year. Considering these numbers, the company just registered a growth of 1.45 per cent in the last month when compared to the same period last year. Hero MotoCorp registered a growth of 6.2 per cent during the financial year (April 1, 2014–March 31, 2015) by selling 66,31,826 units of two-wheelers. Considering these numbers the two-wheeler maker has definitely achieved success with its online sales.
