The newly unveiled 2015 Dodge Challenger Drag Pak will captive drag racing fans with the brand’s first-ever offering of supercharged engines
Dodge has taken the 2015 Challenger Drag Pak to newer heights by offering the car with a choice of two engine options - the brand’s first ever offering of a supercharged 5.8-litre 354-cubic-inch Hemi V8 or a naturally aspirated 7.0-litre 426-cubic-inch Hemi V8 engine.
The Dodge Challenger Drag Pak is revealed almost a year later after the first prototype was shown. The Challenger Drag Pak is a race-prepped version of Dodge’s two-door muscle car built specifically for drag racing.
The Drag Pak is distinguished from a stock Challenger by its bulging hood that gives it a beefy appearance. This new car receives numerous chassis upgrades such as beefed-up suspension and brakes, 15-inch lightweight wheels, and Hoosier drag radials. The rear tyres are a monstrous 30 inches wide.
Inside, the Challenger Drag Pak gets a Mopar gauge pack lightweight driver and front passenger racing seats with five-point harnesses, a safety net, full roll cage, and a fire extinguisher.
The output figures for the 5.3-litre 354-cubic-inch supercharged V8 and the naturally aspirated 7.0-litre 426-cubic-inch Hemi V8 engine have not been announced yet. However, each engine version carries a distinctive graphic identification package. The supercharged Challenger Drag Pak sports a Mopar Blue stripe and a ‘354 Supercharged’ decal, while the naturally aspirated model displays a horizontal black stripe along its side with a ‘426 Hemi’ engine logo.
The Drag Pak is designed to compete in National Hot Rod Association (NHRA)-sanctioned drag races in the Sportsman category and is not a street-legal model.
