Hyundai Creta to feature in SRK starrer Fan

Hyundai Motor India’s recently launched SUV – the Creta will dazzle onscreen alongside Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan in the forthcoming new movie – Fan. The South Korean carmaker had roped in Shah Rukh Khan as its brand ambassador nearly two decades ago and their association still continues.

Product placement in movies has been an age-old method used by carmakers to give their vehicles a large than life aura and increase its aspirational co-efficient. Creta will star in Fan- a movie which brings together various emotions of a fan through an engaging story line.

The Creta is a handsome SUV drawing inspiration from the its elder sibling Santa Fe. The stylish new SUV sports projector lamps and LED DRLs, a large chrome strapped hexagonal grille, muscular bumpers and wide haunches to give it a purposeful look. Blacked out A and B pillars add to the sportiness and large 17 inch wheels give the Creta an excellent stance.

In petrol, the Creta comes with a 1.6-litre unit producing 123PS of power and 155Nm of torque. In diesel, the new SUV comes with two engine options – the smaller 1.4-litre 90PS mill that we have already seen on the Elite i20 and a 1.6-litre 128PS unit from the Verna. They make 220Nm and 259Nm of torque respectively and come mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. However, the latter also comes with a choice of a six-speed automatic transmission as well.

Product placement in movies is a widely successful concept and has been used internationally by the likes of General Motors (GM) in the movie Transformers: Age of Extinction and Audi in the Transporter. GM cars such as Corvette Stingray and Chevy Sonic have been a part of Transformers. Tata Motors, too, had starred the Safari Strome in Singham Returns last year.
