Anna Hazare's SUV auctioned for Rs 9.11 lakh

Indian social activist and the face of the India Against Corruption Movement, Anna Hazare, needs no introduction. The winner of the Padma Bhushan award – the third-highest civilian award - conferred upon him by the Government of India, Hazare is known for organising and encouraging grassroot    movements for social causes. His long-time companion, a Mahindra Scorpio W CRDE SUV, which he used during various agitations, including Jan Lokpal movement was recently auctioned at Ralegan Siddhi village in Ahmednagar district.

This eight-year-old SUV was bought by Pravin alias Atul Lokhande for Rs 9.11 lakh. Lokhande is a member of the Devdethan Gram Panchayat in Srigonda taluka of Ahmednagar. According to reports Lokhande is a former student of Ralegan village school and is closely associated with Hazare's activities. Apart from Lokhande, 14 people participated in this auction.

Reports suggest, Hazare now needs a new vehicle as he is suffering from back pain, and travelling in the eight-year-old SUV, only aggravated his health issues. A new Innova car is likely to be purchased for the 77-year-old social activist after this auction.

This Mahindra Scorpio SUV is owned by Hazare's Swami Vivekanand Krutudnata Nidhi, a trust formed to govern the funds received by the septuagenarian by way of awards.
