Lykan Hypersport

It’s not just an average police car. Abu Dhabi’s Police’s latest vehicle – the Lykan Hypersport is a car that the country’s Police department would be proud of. The Rs 21.7 crore ‘robocop’ hypercar has been fitted with special cameras allowing it to read number plates and even scan the faces of drivers at 394kmph.

The hypercar is dubbed ‘robocop’ because of its surveillance gadgetry. The Robocop tag comes from Ekin, the company which has installed an upgrade that enables scans to be taken of number plates within 180 degree. The car is also able to search for stolen vehicles and monitor traffic.

Many car enthusiasts will identify the Lykan Hypersport from the recent Hollywood blockbuster Fast and Furious 7 where Vin Diesel is seen jumping from one building to another in a bid to escape.

The Lykan Hypersport has been equipped with a RUF-developed twin-turbocharged, six-cylinder 3.7-litre engine unleashing 770PS of power and 1,000Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a 6-speed sequential transmission. All these numbers are good enough for the Lykan Hypersport to sprint from 0-100kmph in 2.8 seconds with a top-speed of 400kmph.

The Lykan Hypersport is the first hypercar to be produced in the Middle East and to maintain exclusivity, production of the car is limited to just seven units making it among the rarest production cars in the world.
