HiI am planning to purchase a Honda CB1100 mugen to india. I have contacted the authorized dealer in Mumbai however have been informed they cannot get the deal done due to their policies (which is absured due to the fact Honda is selling high end machines in India). I am looking for a 100 % clean import to ensure no future problems arise. Please advise what is the best source to get this done RegardsAnish Mhatre

Dear Anish, import bikes draw 110 percent custom duties in India. You can import the bike with the full duty paid by yourself, but Honda as a company will need to have the model passed through the government authorities for several Indian road-legal norms like saree-guard, number-plate location, etc, before they can sell you any model from their line-up. Hence the company policy will not allow them to import a model for a customer. Ideally, consult the customs department for the correct procedure of importing a superbike and the total cost of it including the import duties.
