At the 79th Geneva Motorshow Tata showcased
the Prima and the Tata Indica Vista EV concept cars. Geneva has
always been an important destination for Tata, for this is the exact
show where the company first showcased the Indica concept more than
a decade ago. Well respected, and now well known for their Nano
project as well as the fact that Tata owns Jaguar and Land Rover,
the two concept cars displayed by the company have been attracting
a lot of attention.
Tata Indica Vista EV Concept
The Tata Indica Vista EV is touted to be a more practicable option
for the consumer when it finally reaches the customer in the near
future. Capable of carrying four individuals and offering adequate
luggage space the electric model of Tata's best seller is said to
have a range of 200 kilometers on a single charge. It can accelerate
from 0-60 kmph in under 10 seconds. The car uses super polymer lithium
ion batteries in order to sustain a charge for a longer duration.
Tata Motors' electric vehicles will be produced in association
with Miljo Grenland/Innovasjon, Norway. Tata Motors' UK subsidiary,
Tata Motors European Technical Centre plc, has a 70% stake in Miljo.
The first such vehicle to be developed by the company is the Indica
EV, which is currently undergoing extensive tests in Europe.
