What truly got us raving mad about the Fortuner after almost a 1000km in under three days of driving on tarmac, hills, slushy sections and gravel was the fact that the vehicle has terrific poise.

For all, smart people here whoi do not understand Pricedifference in Thailand (or any other Country and India),Please convert the currency. The Same model of Fortumer in Thailand costs 10.8 Lakh BHATTS. which means 15.5 lakhs in INR. and then our duties make it more expensive. BEcause we have higher duties on SKDs, Semi Knocked Down kits.Rest I feel its a nice buy at this Rate, People who compare it with the CRV, CRV is 5 seater, its costlier, its petrol and maintainence costs much more. | Reply

Toyota bangalore plant is not doing well due to very low sales of Innova as every one is buying better designed xylos ,hence spare capacity of single shift running plant is assembling vehicles like corolla, fortrunner etc with engines and parts made from china, indonasiaetc to fool indian public , they even went to the extent of greasing public servents in Karnataka and sold many of unsold corollas in bulk with VIP lamps | Reply

What so ever, Toyota Corolla is one of the best sellers all over the world. Innova rocks in the market. Tractor maker Mahindra and other such dumb brands in India cant raise any challenge to the Golobal best brand Toyota. You are just a toad in the well. India is a third world country - a price conscious market. Indians like u dont deserve Toyota. To know the brand value of Toyota, u need to visit developed countries. One more thing, whether it is in India, China or anywhere else, Toyota adheres to strict quality checks. All Multinational Companies do have factories in China so as to gain from the cheap and skilled labour available in that country. These products must not be confused with the low quality Chinese non branded products. Most of the Indians have this notion. Toyota is an inspirational innovative global brand. Call a spade a spade, Indian brands suck!! | Reply

Toyotas are overrated.... you have to drive other cars to really see how they compare to the Toyota... we have a company owned Fortuner and Land Cruiser and I personally have a Nissan Xterra. The Fortuner is rubbish in off road conditions and is not very comfortable on road. The Land Cruiser is Great, but for that Price??? My Nissan Xterra costs half of that of the Land Cruiser, but will go any where the Land Cruiser can plus it is more nimble. Nissan wins hands down on this one. | Reply

you r rite guys!!!! Shelling out 20 lacs for this vehicle is way tooooo much, especially for those low quality interiors. Instead Scorpio M-Hawk is far better. Toyota should reconsider the price the price before launch....... 20 lacs for 3000CC is excess. | Reply

ya guys i completely agree with all your comments i went to showroom to see the car and i was desperately waiting for it launch. but guys i was really disappointed to see the quality of plastic, leather, interiors, seating, engine noise, vibrations in gear knob, front bumper vibrates when u close any of the doors and i can keep on pointing out so many other problems which i saw in fortuner in my 20 mins short visit and i literally run away from show room its actually nothing more then innova with a bigger engine so plzzz guys stay away from it. and plzz toyota what are u guys upto we are not fool siting here in india. | Reply

WENT TO TOYOTA SHOWROOM TO CHECK THE SUV. CAME BACK VERY DISAPPOINTED : THE LOOK IS GREAT, BUT THE INTERIORS ARE VERY CRAMMPED AND LOOK LIKE THE INNOVA, ALSO THE LAST ROW OF SEAT IS MEANT ONLY FOR CHILDREN BELOW 12 YEARS OF AGE - TO SHELL OUT 20 LAKHS FOR THIS DOES NOT MAKE SENSE WHERE YOU HAVE LOOKS BUT BAD INTERIORS - BETTER TO BUY THE INNOVA WHICH IS HALF ITS PRICE... | Reply
  • Nat (25 August 2009 17:02)
Bottomline, Toyota should bring in SUV/MUV's in competion with Mahindra Xylo or a scorpio in the mid price range of 8-12 Lakhs, Otherwise it will only be driven by a few and envied by the rest.. Thats my view..I guess Most of the uses do not want to shell more than 10 L for a SUV.. | Reply

This Fortuner costs 10 lakhs in Thailand and 22 lakhs in India? It's not an Import also.... Are we sqeezed too much by these SUV's. By any standards all SUV's in Inda are Overpriced (Scorpio excluded) by atleast 30 to 35 percent. | Reply
  • Manohar (25 August 2009 07:07)
I urge Toyota to launch a 2 wheel drive version of the Fortuner. Hence a lot of these vehicles are bought and used by urbanites, who may never need 4WD vehicle. It's also suggested to introduce 2.5 D4D engine from Innova at a very base price, Then Toyota can justify producing this vehicle producing in India instead CKD operations. | Reply

Hello Guys,Thanks for sharing the same opinion, Toyota can you bring us Previa vans, Supra MR2 and Avalon etc please. We understand to show your reliability to the relatively new customers you bought us the outdated 1974 Qualis, then the innova. See how good response you got when you launched the Corolla. But you greedy guys overpriced the Camry thus no one is buying it. How you expect people shelling out money to buy camry rather than going for an Accord or Passat or even a Skoda. Toyota Kirloskar - do not underestimate the Indian Customer, for them a car is something which is really a big thing and they will never buy on impulse or buy an outdated model. They will check with 10 personnel to buy it comparing to any other nationalities. Thus try to bring us quality vehicles with State of the art technology. Now VW , Honda etc. are bringing really great models and inorder to not to lose the grip you have in Indian market, think sensibly and bring us good and latest models and not JUNK. | Reply

It is because Toyota knows that Indians are not grown enough for Toyotas. We are made for hatch backs and not hybrids and SUVs. | Reply
Sidharth (11 December 2009 14:48) Reply to pradeepsiddharth
I agree. Toyota seems to have a notion that their outdated models are enough for Indians. It is because, people who visited abroad have a good opinion of Toyota and they are exploiting us. I love Camry but it is over priced in India | Reply
vivek (17 January 2010 21:38) Reply to Sidharth
Camry is Expensive because of the stupid import dutieson CKDs. Camry is imported as it is from Japan. for all those who do not know the lingo CKD is a Completly Knocked Down Kit, which means that the only thing done herein India is Assembly. | Reply

Sure it is surprise that TOYOTA brought up this instead of RAV4. They are naming it close to 4 Runner which is a master peice. Why cannot they produse the Highlander. It is great run for money to CRV. I cannot understand how a Cehevy can be named in the same sentence where Honda and Toyota are named | Reply

I certainly agree with you Pradeep. One can afford to drive a Mercedes in Dubai for that price tag. | Reply

I'm surprised to see Toyota launching Phaltoo models for Indian Cusotmers. Rather than introducing RAV4 which is the most idelal for Indian markets complemening with RX350 for a sensible price, the blockheads at Kirloskar keep on introducing non-moving and worst ever models. For example this is one model dumped by every one at middle east thus they bring it here at a higher prcie tag. Here this model is sold less than 10 lakh for every one's information. I'm really irritated with Toytota Kirloskar, rather than bringing new models they bring to India outdated models. We should not be fooled by the toyota name. We respect this company but it doesn't mean that they take advantage of it. | Reply
