Tata Nano: Living with it
To borrow a phrase from McDonalds - the fast food guys, our masses would surely be chanting "I'm loving it" when it comes to driving and owning a Nano. It is cute and yet sensible. Open the door, slide behind the wheel and what you have is a great panoramic view from the pilot's seat. In fact two-wheeler riders upgrading to it will love the airy ambience and the all-round peripheral vision that comes from biking into the Nano's cabin. Of course I don’t like the fact that there is no rear view mirror on the left hand side door, even strangely there is no provision to fit one though the Nano Europas at Geneva did have mirrors on both doors.
After an entire day's drive, the seats felt comfortable though on the last lap of the drive I dozed off at the rear, thanks to the steady 90km/h cruising speed of the car and the comfortable seat plus well damped ride contributing their own magic to prevent me from becoming a back seat driver.
The tiny twelve inch wheels are more than up to the task and coupled with the 180mm ground clearance they can go where many other cars fear to tread. Its turning circle diameter of 8.0-metres is the best in the business and maneuverability is like that of a motorcycle with two additional wheels! Parking is a breeze because of this and also because of its size, many a time we could park the Nano length-wise in the space occupied by the width of many present day Indian cars!
