Yamaha Fazer
With the Indian sub-continent brimming with picturesque locales in all directions, it doesn't come as a surprise to us that motorcycle touring is fast gaining popularity in the country. Adventurous souls from the biking ilk are swiftly coming to the fore and their perfect idea of a weekend is a long ride through the less traversed Indian roads. There is no dearth of two-wheeled explorers in our country, but what's missing is the variety of bikes that can cater to this large portion. As of now there are only a handful of bikes that can be termed as 'Tourers', like the Royal Enfields, Karizmas and the Pulsars.

yamaha fazer rocks.... i own red yamaha fazer been 4 months now... crossed 5000km mark...and just one word for it... its unbeatable in hills.. tho it lacks power in plains and highways... were it top speed get stuck at 108kmph to 110.. but when it comes in hills and curvers... when you really need tht torque...tht xtra power pull... tht extra balance to bend as much as you can..were you make your way ahead with every kind of road.. were you keep njoying tht engine sound that increases you adreline rush in your blood every second.. were your heart beats as fast as it can.. were every road seems small.. were you trust your brakes... and you stop centimetrs away from a 2 ton truck.. were you are so muh in love with it tht you go again and again in parking and sit and keep gazing at it... because you are so much in love with it.. you wipe of its dust daily. as it hurts and cant see it dirty... evry time you drag it to its best and say iam gonna rip of every cc and bhp out of it... but still there is always a lot more stored in reserved to be pulled out... were you beat every contender... striving uphill for some pace.. and you vanish... were you look a real man ride it.. and it completes me... because i trust it.. and it fulfills it every promise made to me... YES YES YAMAHA! | Reply

guys i dont really believe that people are comparing a 220cc pulsar wid a fazer!!talking about fazer...park it next to a pulsar in a parking lot...it will moder the hell outta dat pulsar ;) looks wise..fazer is 2nd to none..yes it is priced high @ 85ks now..but i guess its wortehd..u feel like makin love to it...its soo good looking...now i am paranoid about speedbiking, and fazer would not quench ma thirst for speed...its like once u hit hundred..it takes almost a few seconds to increase the speed by 1km!but heck..not everyday will i be driving in a highway..so dat can be neglected..for city riding..its comfort personified..seating,positioning..i almost doze off while riding..and people who say its slow??14ps!!dats slow only wen u compare it wid a few oder bikes of da 180cc o 200c o 220cc segments...fazer has been made actually as a leisure bike..!the most important thing..3-4 years down the line..lets see how well a pulsar fares when compared ta a fazer...yamaha engines have better service and longitivity few years down the line..so its entirely upto u now..if u want ta invest in a bike for its looks, safety, comfort?fazer is ur answer..if not??u have teh r15s teh pulsars and teh zmrs..choice is urs...but for me???YES YAMAHA.. :) | Reply

Hi Navin,if u see any twin head lamp bike, u'll find only one head lamp glowing at a time. in some bikes, u may find both d lamps glowing but only when being in high beam mode. I'll suggest you not to get the electrial wiring altered, as, firstly, it will spoil the warrenty
  • Zak (02 February 2010 14:05)
i own a yamaha fazer(black) and lemme tel u.... d byk is simply superb..... d ridin comfort dat dis machine offers u is second to none..nd if u r a biking enthusiast den u'll surely wander off on an offroadin spree once in a while... d monocross suspension serves d purpose here... u dun feel a thing over those big speed breakers... talkin of speed... it may nt be as fast as d p220 or d Zmr.... but rn't we 4gttn d fact dat dis is a 150 cc byk.... nd ts not slow either .... cuz i personally hav hit 117 kmph on dis byk vid a pillion rider.... nd 117 kmph is nt xctly slow.... nd wen it comes to handling... ts amazing pppl. u jus can't beleive hw easily u cn corner dis bike on those sharp bends..... d only negative point i cn think of is d in-efficient gear shift... it vry slobby nd sumtyms pisses u off in city traffic... my dad owns a royal enfield.... nd we go touring quite oftn..... nd take my word fr it.... d fazer nd d royal enfield r d best tourers in india... in a recent bike rally conductd in nagaland only 2 bikes finishd vidout problems.. d royal enfield bullet 500 nd the yamaha fazer 150... beat dat.... all in all a very efficient product by yamaha.... but if u r into racing nd on d edge speed. den dis isn't d byk fr ya... nt cuz ts not fas... ts cuz der r faster byks.....but it stil stnds among d fastest byks in country.... | Reply

Wonder why.....Yamaha doesn't come up with a higher CC version of Enticer. I ride a Bullet and an Enticer. Both give decent riding pleasure, very few problems and once in a blue moon trip to the holy mechanic in Karol Bagh. One thing I would like to clear is that Yamaha's chassis of its latest bikes are not worth the money. The engines of course are much more reliable than most bikes. Though I swear by the legendary Royal Enfield Bullet. Coming to comparison of Yamaha and Bajaj, it's just the difference of quality of engine parts used. Yamahas are just tougher than other plastic bikes. For comparison, touring can just be as misleading as differentiating between smelling the roadside grass or the mystic sands of the Thar desert on a tour de Rajasthan. What is being reviewed here is just a sports bike and an unreasonable comparison here. | Reply

If you are a true biker and want to travel distances, go for the royal bulls. Fazers, Fz's, the pulsars, the karizmas are just some fancy city riding models which eventually crack down and will not last long the way the bull will. People still use enfields purchased in 1960's. tell me one pulsar whose is more than 6 yrs old and does not have any engine work. if you want to conquer the world, buy a royal enfield. Even today, when you have so many crappy metal and fibre bikes all around, people still turn their heads, when their hear the thump of a bullet.. | Reply

Till date it has clocked 80000 KM, and to the surprise i have not opened the engine till date. till date i have what i have changed is 2 st of tyres, 6 rear break shoes, 1 set of front shoes(disk brake), i have met in 1 accident in which i have to change 1 front fork clamp. with regular servicing today also my bike gives me 65KMPL and easily touch 85KMPH speed. | Reply

Just forget of buying this machine.... its a hopeless bike b'coz: 1) its too costly in 150cc segment, with same money u can buy Pulsar 220. 2) Its full of fibre which is not at all insured, so in case of wear and tear u have to bear all cost alone. 3) its only looks that too cheap , it doesn't have power ( RAW POWER) of Bullet, Karizma, Pulsar etc.....Don't think about it at all................. | Reply

if you have money, go for a Kawasaki Ninja 250. That is the best affordable sports bike available in India. If you don't have the budget then i suggest you to try R-15, Fazer, FZ16. How ever, don't waste money on pulsars, apaches, kareeshmas. | Reply

bala the only diff bet the fazer nd fz16 is the front fairing nd the reason the fazer is priced so high is because it is an international model nd hence a premium some extra plastic are added for their fairing compared to the naked fz. id suggest go for the fz16 | Reply

ya guys i am sena i just wanted u people to tell which byke that u would go for. first i suggest u people to look at 150 and 200 cc segment i suggest u people to go for pulsar coz it is the only byke that have lot of power in this segment but frazer and fz are relatively low when compared to pulsar and pulsar costs low and and gives a mileage of around 45kmpl and frazer and fz gives 35kmpl and maintenance and servicing is also low when u go for pulsar so when u want power and speed just go for pulsar looks also not bad. and in 125 cc segment when u want to buy just go for stunner r shine when style comes go for stunner but it is almost equal to shine where both engines are same and little tuning is done | Reply

mahesh tat isnt true. there is a way of repairing tubeless nd radial tyres nd costs around 80 to 120 per hole. they first check where the hole in the tyre is from where the air is coming out then they drill a hole into it thus making it wider nd then they insert some form of substance which hardens nd covers the hole. but if ur tyre gets punctured above 3 times then u can think of changing it. | Reply
