Honda Accord 3.5 V6

There's just something about two banks of cylinders set at an angle to each other that simply makes every auto enthusiast's heart beat faster. Whether it be a V-twin, V4 or V5 in a motorcycle or V6 and higher under a car's hood - there's this automatic liking towards the vehicle without even having seen it in the flesh. That's somewhat what happened when Honda decided yet again that they would plonk a 3.5 litre V6 into the latest-gen Accord. And when we heard that it was bound for India, you can imagine the excitement within the ZigWheels staff.

Honda Accord 3.5 V6

While the previously employed 2.4 litre i-VTEC inline four mill was good enough doing its job powering a the large executive saloon, it was necessary for the 3.5 litre V6 option to be introduced for those hungry for performance and that's exactly what Honda did. They had done the same with the previous generation Accord as well but then the option was a smaller 3 litre V6 with an auto 'box. Enough history, time to put the Honda Accord 3.5 V6 i-VTEC to the test!

I am an Indian living in the middle east and test drove both the Accord V6 and the Camry V6 (called Aurion in the middle east and Australia with slightly different exterior). The Camry engine and transmission are way superior to that of the Accord. the engine is smoother and the driveline is better sorted out because of the having an extra gear (6 speed in toyota vs 5 speed in Honda). Also the toyota has manumatic gears (option to shift all 6 gears yourself) while the accord only allows first 3 gears to be shifted manually. However in terms of driving dynamics the Honda is the sportier ride. However for someone looking in this segment i will advise you look at the V6 Skoda Superb, it is priced same as these cars but the equipment (AWD, twin door boot), features (such as touch screen Nav, memory seats, back up camera) and quality is one segment higher. | Reply

Honda should offer more features to make it competitive and worthy of the price being charged. It should understand that equally good and better cars are available for a lower price tag. | Reply

Whatever the good things about current honda accord, I would have been appreciated honda, if they launch the european version of Honda Accord which does not look radical with i-DTEC deisel engine with that new auto gearbox. Refer:http://www.honda.co.uk/cars/accordsaloon/ | Reply
