Ninja-250_main

Bajaj Auto's Kawasaki Kracker is a gem of a machine which is sure to write another glorious chapter in the firm's sporty motorcycling theme says Adil Jal Darukhanawala after a quick spin on the baby Ninja

The wait just got over! For bikers who aspired for top notch contemporary motorcycles without having to shell out in excess of a million rupees, rejoice! The spanking new Kawasaki Ninja 250 is here and is just what the doctor ordered! Before we get down to what all is on offer, here's something for you all to salivate on before we hit the road big time:

Ninja-250_Action-(185)

- A twin-cylinder liquid cooled & fuel injected motor

- 4-valves per cylinder actuated by twin overhead camshafts

- 33PS at 11,000rpm

- 22Nm at 8200rpm

- A six-speed gearbox

- 172kg all up kerb weight

- Tubeless tyres

- Disc brakes front & rear

- Kawasaki patented Uni-Trak rear suspension

Ninja-250_Details-(4)
Hyundai i10
What is surely of the essence is that we finally have a motorcycle which has the right bits on it, looks like Kawasaki's litre-class superbikes, goes like stink, handles like a dream and best of all doesn't blow a hole in the wallet! You can have your Yamaha R1s and Honda Fireblades (damn fine machines these, but you'll get four plus Ninjas for the price of one of these hyperbikes!) but when it comes to corner carving on our roads and also doing the high speed hustle, the Ninja 250 has the beatings of all the big bikes in our biking eco-system. And best of all, with this attribute comes yet another trait, the Ninja 250 is an all round everyday bike with great ergonomics that allows you to play street scratcher, high speed commuter and MotoGP pilot all rolled into one with aplomb!

actually the problem with most of you is that you do not own a bajaj thats why you are talking like this or if you even had one or drove of your friends you will never know what it means to sit on a PULSAR or AVENGER . GO to the BAJAJ showroom buy one brand new drive it and then only you will fell distinctly ahead. I am driving a avenger 200 at the moment and had pulsar 150 180 for the last 8 years . so i am the better judge of the bike and the company that most of you and the bottom line is that you have driven bike just bikes till date but PULSAR and NINJA's are DEFINATELY MALE | Reply

Cool man...You are so ignorant!! Seems like you have not ridden any good bikes!! So I suggest you to test ride a Ninja 250. I am sure it will be a totally new experience for you and you won't even think about riding a cheap bajaj again!!! | Reply

Pulsars might be crude but believe me, I have 180DTSi and in street racing, only P220 defeated me...i mean, R15s | Reply

You are an idiot. Looks like you have only driven Bajaj bikes. You need to try out the Yamaha's and the Apache RTR. They are much better than any Pulsar. Ninja ofcourse has a class of its own because its a Kawasaki and not really a Bajaj. Cheers!! | Reply

Seems like you haven't been on a bajaj ever... Anyways every1 has their own opinions... I have always found people biased against the Bajaj's... I have been riding for 15 years now... Right from the RX100's to The 220 and the R15... The R15 is a very nice machine for its price (too tiny though... Feels like a bicycle...) But the 220 is definitely higher ranked than the "waste of a money" Karizzma... HH has a slightly better build quality than bajaj I will give you that... But they are nowhere in the performance area... The original CBZ was unbeatable... But after that they have managed to churn out shit bikes after shit bikes (read: hunk, extreme, etc.) And all they do is cosmetic upgrades... Whereas Bajaj atleast try their heart out at newer innovations and meaningful upgrades... | Reply
Amey (04 March 2010 15:41) Reply to Husain
you are idiot to say yamaha R 15 a bicycle because you dont know what a soprt bike is what feel is to drive it. as till R 15 there was no true sport bike made india. Yamaha is ture bike maker in world and not come from socter and auots makers. And About Ninja. it is not of bajaj It is of another maker of bikes in world KAWASAKI. anenger is also copy of KAWASAKI if you are forgeting.
Sri (20 July 2010 15:05) Reply to Husain
hey grow up man. did u ever take on r15...thats the first bike in india with real working aerodynamics. do u know about its technology, first check out whats delta box frame, di-ali cylinder, radiator with coolent, check the quality of fibre and plastic

for the person above who said that i can get kawasaki ninja anywhere in the world for 1.5L, stop just kidding(i hope youare talking about the 2010 model) . ya if can buy it from anywhere else then why not nepal no visa required lol..lol.. for the other people kindly visit the kawasaki original website the price overthere is 4500$=2250000Rs. above all you want the bike imported to india for 1.5L what a joke. | Reply
  • Phuntsok (07 November 2009 15:09)
2 CYLINDER - This is the only USP I find in this bike, and ths is the next step of power in smaller bikes I hv been waiting for long. but the price is a huge turnoff. For me power is the top priority on a bike and that can be achieved only by additonal cylinder. I feel price is litte unjust. Yamaha R16 is better looking and better priced hope it comes out with a 2 cylinder with competitive price. | Reply
Adrian Perez (21 February 2010 22:12) Reply to Phuntsok
I feel the bike is overpriced for a Inline-Twin... The Hyosung Comet which had a V-Twin was sold for 1.8L and is a much better bike. V-Twin Engines are fare more superior than the Inline-Twin used in Ninja... The only reason that Comets were not sold were the unavailability of spares. You can actually buy a 2nd hand 1000cc or a 400cc bike for a little more... | Reply

I definately agree with you on price, given the R16 price and looks, wish it had an additional engine option with 2 cylinders.Well high price of Ninja could be because of much higher import components on the bike | Reply
  • Aki (02 November 2009 04:54)
It doesnt matter how much it costs initially, like everyone has said - passion for a bike cannot be compared with price, but, guys its going to be assembled and maintained by Bajaj! Best of luck to those who buy it! I bet your maintenance costs after 2 years will almost be enough to buy another one of those. Not that that matters either but the byk will be completely thrashed if you keep on givin it to Bj for servicing. Plus, its the same Ninja from international markets, the tail-lamp and some rear sections are from Bajaj not Kawasaki. All those people who have said they can very well afford it at 3.3 lacs, I suggest spend a bit more and get a better bike imported, don't rely on Bj's assembling. | Reply

who says Bajaj service is poor ? As far as my expereience, there service is better than four wheeler dealers. It is our mentality to rubbish indian companies. | Reply
Adrian (21 February 2010 22:43) Reply to Vicky
I have used a Bajaj Pulsar 180 and i can tell you that Bajaj products are very bad in Quality. I used to rip my bike and also took very good care and serviced it on time. But still i could feel the performance of the bike go bad. The same is not the case with any Honda or Yamaha. That is the reason Bajaj should never even be compared with Honda or Yamaha or Suzuki. Bajaj should concenterate on improving the quality of their product. People buy the Ninja because it is from Kawasaki and not from Bajaj. Ask anyone if they would pay 3L for a Bajaj Ninja? there is nothing more foolish than doing that. Bajaj should just stick to the 100cc,110cc,112cc,125cc and the 135cc segment and not spoil the quality of the higher cc sport bike segment. | Reply
sammy (15 November 2009 04:59) Reply to Vicky
Bajaj's service might be better for scooters and so called bikes. But practically they have only scooter experience and please don't compare Bajaj with premium 4 wheelers. Well its ok if you are talking about four wheeler service like Rhino n some unknown brands. | Reply
Amit Mani (05 November 2009 01:17) Reply to Aki
Exactly right dude!!I saw this bike at the Pro biking showroom in Pune, the tail light and the mud guard are shaky {like in the Pulsar}. I asked the salesman and he said that they do not shake when the vehicle is in motion!!!!! What a Jazz. But the fuel tank and the appearance of the vehicle are awesome. | Reply
Joker (11 December 2009 14:52) Reply to Amit Mani
The bike is assembled by BAJAJ. I guess you havent seen the bike carefully or examined it. CAUSE IF YOU HAD ,YOU WUD HAVE COME TO NOW BY NOW THAT EVRYTHING SHAKES IN THE NINJA EXCEPT, THE INSIDE OF THE ENGINE. HAHAHA | Reply

I agree with you both on the Bajaj Back-up for Ninja. All of you prospective buyers beware, Bajaj service is notorious for service, a huge turn-off. Well i hv lots of experiece to share as I own an Eliminator. Bike is good but Bajaj service is one bad experience I had to go through even in the Capital Delhi at Bagga eewwwwwwww. | Reply

No test ride in Bangalore. Take it or leave it. Thats what I was told by the pro-biking showroom. It is always better to take a test ride before buying. When i did that for R15, I realised that it is not a bike for me as I am 5, 11'. It was very uncomfortable. Took a test ride of P220 and ZMR recently. Both r just fine for my height and riding requirements. I will never know about Ninja. Lose-lose situation.

its a good bike indeed but i doubt abt bajaj's after sale service. i won a pulser 220 dts-fi and i m getting a lot of problems. even this ppl didnt mantioned abt the bike accessories like main stand, rear seat cowl, tank pad etc.by the way what abt the black silencer and and the strange green rear seat, is it the new ninja or bajaj has done something new for its ninja? coz its looks strange. what abt other colors? it is a CKD unit then why is it twice as costly ? .......best of luck for NINJA.. | Reply

Its is the latest ninja acc. to my info, cause the earlier one was carburettor walla. It is a ckd unit nd the price is not twice the actual price becoz the actual price in thailand is around 2 lac nd twice means 4 lacs if my math is gud enough. The job bajaj was given was to tighten the nuts nd bolts nd hope they have done that well oterwise we shall hear rattling kranky kawasakis in india. hahahahahahaha | Reply
Varun (25 October 2009 15:59) Reply to maddy
Look...Ninja 250R version 2010 is available in two modes ie One is carburratted which is mainly for the US market and the second is FI mainly for European Market. 2.69 is becoz of FI. model 2010. Guys ur gettin 2010 model in 2.69. Its a good deal yaar. Its fully imported...what else one cud ask for.Had it been the carburatted it wud have been as that of the US price. AFA the accessories r concerned they are arranging for them now onwards. Currently the rear seat cover is available @ Rs.3897. It makes the baby ninja a one seater sports bike. Actually its awesome. And well said even if it was priced at 2.5 ppl wud have still cried...Good Job Bajaj..!!! | Reply

The lube costs 1400 if purchased by self which is too expensive. I would like to know which oil can i put on the chain to prevent it from rusting. wud white grease do or is it more expensive than the lube or wud singer machine oil do. | Reply

And did ull even think about the servicing. bajaj has a lot of service centres but are they competent enough to service the ninja. changing the oil and the filters are easy but what if the engine gives trouble. Its a single cylinder streetbike with weight lesser than a Karizma and will be as costly as 600cc racebikes .... So much for your price-performance ratio. I own a KTM Super Duke 990 which is costlier than a Hayabusa. My twin tops 260, while the Busa goes in excess of 300kmph. Look at a Harley ... say a Fatbob, Softail or a V-Rod; those cruisers top around 220kmph, still they're way costly than my KTM. ... How do costly bikes sell? Its cos they're fun to ride. I've cruised @ 240 kmph on the busa feeling like i was in a car with the engine ever so relaxed and surroundings passing fast like hell. I consider that as rather boring and dangerous as well over the long run even though I really loved the short 20 minute sprint.Getting to international standards, bikes are no more just about the power they produce, bikes today are more about Thrill factor while riding. | Reply

Hey Man,At this price...... NO WAY WILL I BUY IT. I might as well get me a Santro (Cool A/C, 4 friends / family, no rain, warm winters). Additionally I will get the status of car walla. You ought to get the economics right man. But what to do - You auto journo's are always crazy for MORE POWER. So lets fit a second hand MiG 29 engine on your bike and see it go. | Reply

what is the game plan of bajaj. is it to dissude people to buy this bike. atrocious price. why cant indina manufacturers design and develop large sized machine ie 250 CC and above. If you compare the prices outside India it will be dead cheap. Yes many will not even touch these puny engined bikes. Instead they should have brought smaller sized Kawasaki which will be more fuel efficient and economical | Reply

Hey guys, read all your comments on the "value for money" stuff. My bit is - One cannot tag a value for passion. It simply boils down to how passionate you are owning the thing and whether you can afford it. Also riding a powerful bike does not mean that you can enjoy it only at top speeds. It is something like owning a good music system. To enjoy the sound, you dont need to play it at full blast. Also if value money was everything, i guess a Maruti 800 would have been the only car to bought in the indian market. | Reply

3 lacs of 250cc bike, instead one can buy a car for that price in which 4 person can sit easily. If you want buy reasonable, good looking bike go for karizma ZMR or R15 , they cost near about 1lac only ,instead of wasting 3 lacs on this bike. This bike is avialable in two colours only green and black. NO COLOUR OPTIONSBike even doesn`t have DIGITAL METER. | Reply

It is a totally bakwas bike and waste of money. The people who ride this piece of crap in USA are mainly women. Why spend 2.7Lakhs on a 250CC 32bhp ninja when you can get a 220CC 21bhp pulsar dtsi for only 80,000Rs? I would rate the pulsar much higher in terms of price to performance ratio. I will leave this bike to 12yr old kids/girls and rather wait for the KTM 690 Duke which is an awesome machine compared to this overpriced piece of junk. | Reply

do u know the avg salary of uk citizens varies from 15000 to 40000 pds .For them it may be only 2 mnths of their salary (max) to buy a baba ninja. Dont compare uk with india. See thailand price . And moreover it is like comparing bajaj with kawasaki | Reply
