  Road Test:Bajaj Pulsar 200

Back in June 2002, the very first Bajaj Pulsar 180 TV commercial sent a shockwave through the biking community in India leaving all bikers wondering what the new Pulsar would be. Enter 2009 - the fourth generation Pulsar 180 DTSi is an entirely new motorcycle. Do not mistake it to be a mere cosmetic upgrade as she packs in some serious new equipment within its frame. Already a market leader in the premium motorcycle segment in India, Bajaj Auto's latest assault in the form of the 2009 Pulsar Edition promises to keep the company perched on top of the performance bike segment.

I am a proud owner of P180 which is just a month old.Though u got other higher priced indian bikes in the market but i believe that P180 is the best suited to all in all means.Forget about karizma, yamaha and even P220 which are just waste of money unless u r serious about power then go for P220.I got around 52 km mileage per liter with an average speed( max 60km/hr).please go for pulsar 180.Its an xlent bike. | Reply

Look buddy even bajaj dont takes the responsibility for the milage of P180, but it all depends on our luck. Two of my friends having P180, one bike is giving milage of 35kmpl And the other is giving above50kmpl.So it depends on bike and luck.By the way i m also going to but a P180 in Jan-2010 | Reply

I own the 180 ug-4 since 2 months.. very much satisfied and confortable. Though there is general myth that bajaj bikes wear out earlier than its competitors i would disagree wen u campare the 180 ug-4.. they have definity improved quality this time and u can feel the difference if u have rode any earlier pulsars...And people dont worry about 'no kicker'.. none of the new bikes these days have a kicker including all the new yamaha brands like fz16 or fazer.. It wont be a big problem as there is a battery indicator also included in the digital indicator to show any battery problems. The only problem u might face is that the turning radius is lesser for this bike, but u can adjust to it after a couple of turns ;-).. and yeah u need to be quite a healthy guy since this machines weight can overpower u at times.. and yeah this is not a bike for short guys less than say 5ft 5'.. coz its got a pretty high seating position from ground level the weight. The average price will vary from region to region. 68500 is showroom price.. plus tax and all will take it to 71,500 on an average..One last word : " You take care of the bike, and the bike will take care of you".u need to know anything abt the 180-ug4 or any queries then feel free to mail me @ crazysachith@gmail.com | Reply

Hi my name is Nilesh. I own a Pulsar 150 DTSi 2007. Prior to this I had Bajaj m80 and Bajaj Caliber 1998. These were excellent bikes. Then I made my biggest mistake ever to buy 150 DTSi. The bike is nothing but trouble. The suspension sucks. Bike keeps knocking. the bike wobbles even at speeds of 50 kmph. This is from day one. The bike pulls to one side even on dry roads. Sometimes feels like I am riding a punctured bike. So much so that my Rear tyre was completely worn out on one side while the other side was as good as new. Even Bajaj cannot help. I have decided never ever to go back to Bajaj again... SORRY PULSAR FANS ... I HAVE BEEN THROUGH THIS AND DONT WANT ANY ONE ELSE TO GO THROUGH THE SAME.... | Reply

I Have Bajaj Pulsar 150 DTS-i For Short time Bajaj Products are best . But for Long term its not reliable. Its better to choose Honda or Hero-Honda bikes as compared to Bajaj's | Reply

look wise bajaj bikes r awesome but whn it comes to engine it gives up..after 3-4yrs u miss the smoothness of the engine....it makes too much sound.while herohonda maintain its smoothness..for short term plan bajaj is good else thumb down for its engine. i completely agree wit this comment. do smthing........... | Reply

No detailing on technology ,just design and speed???? is this even a technical review?low on reliability and only interested in "Cheap Price". No wonder they lost market share last year. | Reply

I m a proud owner of BAJAJ PULSAR DTSI-180 , the original version , its a legacy have that pair of wheels , as far as the re-designed 180 caricature is concerned it , fascinates with a spark , but doesnt carry an everlasting impact . | Reply

i have a 2006 p180 ug2, the models succeeding it took the raw performer charm out of it... for instance i love the low stance and low riding position of the original "fear the black" edition of 06. Also the UG3 had lots of problems regarding electricals. By putting it in a high chassis of the 200, i wonder whether the new one would be as good. But looks are killer .. no doubt !!! | Reply

Bajaj is good at adopting engines on different platforms. It has done a good job installing 180cc engine into 220cc platform/chassis. It's increase in weight may not be justifiable as it was already the heaviest bike. Pulsars disadvantage is physical strain if you use them for longer periods. Herewith request to make them more light to ride, as Japanese bikes | Reply
