INNOVA IF U WANT FAMILY CAR AND LOW RUNNING COSTS
SAFARI IF YOU ARE INTO SERIOUS OFFROAD ADVENTURE
FOR STYLE I WOULD SUGGEST XUV 500

We are trying to compare a Modern SUV (XUV500), an old-school SUV (Safari Storme) and a tried-and-tested MUV (Innova). The three vehicles fall in the price bracket of 12-15 lacs for mid-variants. Toyota Innova should be your pick, if flexibility, comfort and people-moving are your main preferences. Innova is a highly succesful 7-seater, and is due for a facelift later this month. Toyota is known for its typical Japanese reliability and trouble-free maintenance. Also, with 3-row AC, good in-car entertainment, safety features et al, it ticks most boxes.Safari Storme has already started looking dated, even though Tata has restyled it heavily. There are those small electric niggles and built quality issues that one normally related with Tata, although it is highly improved over the previous Safari DiCOR. If off-roading is on the top of your list, look no further. Safari would keep you happy with that, but for everyday use, one has better options in the market.Coming to XUV500, it is the current apple of the SUV-lover's eyes for more than an year now. Indigenious designed to international standards and loaded to the brims with creature comforts like touch screen navigation, automatic climate control, etc and good 4x4 abilities, one cannot go wrong with the XUV. The seating is adequately spacious even for the last row. If butch styling and creature comforts are what you look for, go for the XUV.

Priced in the range of Rs. 11-13 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), out of the three cars, two cars-the Toyota Innova and the Mahindra XUV 500 are at par. Where the Tata Safari Storme looks quite similar to the old Safari, it lacks newness and equipments. On the other hand, Innova is a car that has been tested and proven for a long time now and is a car that has been liked by all age groups. Lastly, the XUV 500 is the latest entrant and has stormed the market with its price, styling, features and driveability. Its a combination of looks, price, performance and features. So for me, the pick is definitely Mahindra's XUV 500 for it makes for a complete package.
