After the S80 and the XC90 Volvo is all set to make another addition to their Indian lineup in the form of the all new S60.
The all new car broke cover, albeit in concept guise at the recent Detroit Motor Show earlier this year. The S60 has been around for quite some time and marked a clean break for Volvo from the boxy design that many stereotyped the brand with in 1980s and 90s. The new car promises to be quite radical as well with a more coupe-like side profile and more dramatic exterior design details. Like all Volvo's safety is top priority and the S60 promises to introduce new safety systems such as Pedestrian Detection, a groundbreaking safety feature that can detect pedestrians in front of the car and brake automatically if the driver does not react in time. The concept featured a four-cylinder 1.6L petrol engine using highly-efficient Gasoline Turbocharged Direct Injection (GTDi) developed by Ford, however expect a range of four, five and six cylinder engines to be offered. The car will be officially unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show with the main reason for the delay being Ford's attempts to sell the Swedish brand. The leading bidder is rumored to be Chinese automaker Geely. Even amidst the sale process, Volvo hopes to get the car on India shores sometime next year.
