Suzuki Splash/Ritz

8 Jan 2009

Suzuki Splash/Ritz

In India by: Early 2009

Will cost: Rs 4-5 lakh

Maruti Suzuki's already cramped hatchback space will accommodate another model in 2009 in the form of the Ritz. Known as the Splash around the world, the spacious hatchback is expected to carry an engine from KB series just like its recently launched cousin, the A-Star.

Ford Fusion

The car will fight more premium hatchbacks like the Hyundai i20, the Honda Jazz and Fiat's new 2009 cars, and speaking in the same vein, the Fiat borrowed 1.3-litre diesel engine that does the duties on the Swift is likely to be a smart option. Same efficient engine, more space and the Maruti Suzuki brand name - all sounds like the making of another potential success for the company.

Other Hatchbacks to be launched in 2009
  Toyota small car   Tata Nano
  Honda Jazz   Chevrolet Beat
  Fiat Bravo   Fiat Grande Punto
Ford Fiesta / Mazda 2 hatchback   New Chevrolet Aveo U-VA
New Maini Reva   Nissan Micra / March
Renault Sandero   Skoda Fabia 1.9 TDI

Manufacturing defect PLS DON'T BUT RITZ - 97172913161.Continuous noise from the door pillar, which is quite irritating while driving.2.While driving on the highway at a speed of 75-85 Kmph / 2100 rpm, I noticed continuous jerks and vibrations which shakes the whole body and causes a lot of discomfort and headache while driving. These vibrations stop when the care touches the speed of 90Kmph or above, (Usually this much speed is not possible in the city). FIRST THEY CHANGED ALL TYRES AT 12,000 , NOW AGAIN SAME PROBLEM3.Car A/C makes lot of noise when it starts in the morning or after long gap during the day time.4.After 29000 kms. all Doors and plastic moulds inside have started making noises (Doors trims, dash board, under body noise etc). The whole car seems to be like a rattle with different kinds of sounds coming from different sides.5.Wipers sometimes are not smooth and makes ?creaky? sound | Reply

the overall body structure effect of this car clearly appeal to consumers, i love the color! looks like a vauxhall corsa, the tailgate and the bumprer are very much in line with vauxhall. but how about the other parts and specs like engine, center muffler etc.? | Reply

Craaaaazzy pricing...Maruti never bothers to pass benefits of mass scale (as platforms are similar) to buyers. Ritz more Wagon R like priced Rs. 80000 Higher in petrol.OOOP!! Swift Diesel smaller than Ritz Dsl in size, same FIAT 1.3 Dsl engine is Rs.3000 costlier..!!. Time to look at much better VFM Tata-FIAT cars with same 1.3 MJT Diesel. | Reply

Auto magazines say that the 1.3 multijet engine is underpowered for pulling the Punto. However, except it's funny (called 'quirky' out of decency) shape and small boot (which might not matter to most) , there are no adverse comments about the Ritz. | Reply

Better than A-Star looks, but why another car in the same segment ? Pricing if above 4L will be a flop! | Reply

I am sure Ritz is going to disappoint us in terms of looks. I just saw the picture of Renault's hatchback, I think that's really cool. Let's see when all the cars are out | Reply
  • KK (30 April 2009 17:59)
Pricing would play spoilsport. There are lot of choices in price range of 4-5 Lakhs and dont know if Ritz would be able to outsmart other models like i-10 which are already doing great in Indian market... | Reply

The A-Star looked horrible from the front and tolerable from the back. With the Ritz it's the other way round.Maybe Maruti will have to launch another small car soon so that both the front and the back are visually pleasing and matched.Wake up ye men of Nippon, we belong to the land of Aishwarya Rai! Beauty counts. | Reply

well i really dont agree to this the look of the car is absulutelyamazing ,specially the back light i just love it and this car is aready running sucsessfully in europian market and is now launcing in india in the second week of May with all K-12 engine made of aluminum and lighter in weight that leads to a entence increase in the cars mileage..,I really don't understant that why people are not happy with something good that coming in indiam market and anyways about the look's take any brand hatchback/luxury cars the looks are more or less the same..it's not always looks its about technology aswel :0)...i have a quite alot info on Ritz just have a look http://payalraheja.wordpress.com | Reply

This is another ugly, boxy and tall boy car. Car can't be stable at higher speed. Bonnet is so short that in case of accident, engine will in drivers lap. Please stop making boxy cars. | Reply
JN Nambiar (16 January 2010 17:34) Reply to Amit Kumar
It is rubbish. Please learn that these boxy designs are known as 'tall boys' .They have attained global claim. Especially in Japan. Wagon R and Santro belong to this segment. | Reply
