The Porsche Panamera has received the coveted Golden Steering Wheel award for being the best new car in the Luxury Performance segment.
It's time and the awards have started pouring in. The Porsche Panamera has been awarded the Golden Steering Wheel award in Europe for being the best new car in the Luxury Performance segment. Well, we've driven it and we sure can vouch for the jury's choice there! The award was bestowed upon Porsche's first-ever four door Grand Tourer by a jury 50 strong that comprised of racing car drivers, engineers, celebrities and the senior editors of the Auto Bild Magazine Group in Europe. Even before the jury could have a go and put the Panamera through its paces on a specially earmarked track in Italy, the car had been chosen by readers among the top 5 in the luxury performance class. The Panamera is a unique blend of luxurious spaciousness and pure Porsche performance across its three variants - the S, 4S and the all out Turbo. Armed with a stonker of an engine and a PDK transmission system, the Panamera is really a four door car with a monstrous touch to it.

Thanks to the designers at Porsche, the Panamera also retains all that has been the norm for cars emerging from the Stuttgart factories and forms the perfect bridge between Porsche's Cayenne SUV and 911 sports car. Michael Macht, the President and Chief Executive Officer of Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, received the trophy on Wednesday evening from Bernd Wieland, Editor in Chief of Auto Bild, at the headquarters of the Axel Springer AG in Berlin. Our heartiest congratulations to the nice guys from Stuttgart - this is surely just the beginning of a long line of awards for the Panamera!
