Tata Manza Special Coverage

Tata to launch Manza on Oct 14

New Tata Indigo Vista

Tata Manza, a new and updated version of Tata's Indigo Vista is all set to be launched on 14 October. The new TATA Manza, will borrow design cues from its sibling the Indica Vista-thanks to both models sharing the same platform.

Word on the street is that the new car will also share similar parts and mechanicals as those found on the new Fiat Linea as both Tata and Fiat are looking at furthering their synergies, even in product development. Not much detail can be found on the engines, but the now famous 1.3 litre Fiat engine is bound to be part of the line up.

Honda City

The pricing of the Tata Manza will obviously be lower than that of the Linea, as the company's have an understanding on price points and do not intend on eating into each other's space, despite having a similar product line up.

The new Tata Manza is bound to be a stunner for the entry level sedan segment, and considering the amount of space the car will offer, combined with its new bold looks, it might just be the car to save up for, especially if you are considering a 3 box car and want to spend minimum rupee for it. For more information on the new Tata Manza stay tuned to www.zigwheels.com

Lots of people have commented that the rear side of Manza looks bad. Those people should @ the back of Ritz, A-Star and Dzire before commenting on Manza's back. | Reply

manza is a great car.all those criticizing it must not have driven it.i took test drive of manza, ritz, estilo and sx-4 and found manza best in almost all respect than others.i loved manza's comfort and control and performance.some complain about looks. let them have a look of swift dezire and compare with manza. if any manza owner would like to comment and disagree with me, i welcome that. very soon i m going to bye this car MANZAAAAAAAAAAA. appreciate it | Reply

The design is not well depicted in the picture. Stop criticizing for God's sake. I went and saw the car, test drove myself. Fantastic. Not very impressive from the back (not designed without a reason u know? ) but looks overall is great. Real value for money and its not like early generation tata cars. Pick up is good n top speed is inspiring with nice fuel economy. People who make such bad comments think they are gods in car manufacturing, engineering and design. People who make such blind comments are useless and fit for nothing except to say like this n hurt people who wants to buy. (Sorry for being harsh like some ppl)P.S.: I'm not buying this though. My words are unbiased. I own a VW. | Reply

One more thing, for any car maintenance is important. If you blame for poor servicing then its ok. Some ppl dont really care anything for the car n simply expect performance lifelong? Come on ppl, its after all a machine! They have to be blamed first for poor maintenance. | Reply

Its entirely ur choice. Dzire has good reputation and well established. This is new and yet to establish. If you like to go for something new when u buy, u can go for this. (This one can be surely trusted like Dzire as well). This looks more spacious, has great leg room, head room than dzire. | Reply

I would like to share my experience here as I have used both Indica DLS (^ years) and Indica Vista ( Dec 08 till date). True DLS is better car than Vista.. Vista lacks in basics.. comfort of driving, shifting of geras is hard, Power steering is non existent, it guzzles petrol (mileage less than 9.5 kmpl.) Before you buy Manza Think twice .. Tata cars are going down ward in their technology and their service is pathetic never been able to solve the noise problem in new Vista.Just adding features do not make any car good... if you loose basics of running a car. | Reply

I guess the TATAs, having entered the premium cars segment this time round will certainly pay more heed to advice like the ones posted below. It is quite obvious that if after sales is bad for premium car owners, or any car owner for the matter, they will never return. So i have a feeling TATA will address this issue strongly this time. People have liked the Manza and overall vibes are good. | Reply

I had an Indica petrol LXi 2002. From day 1 the problem started( fuel guage shows full whn its empty). after 2 yrs the a/c broke down. i had to take it to the workshop every 1000kms. silencer leakage was a major problem. i had spend a lot on this and none could find a solution for this. Hope atleast these kind of problems will never happens with TATA again. | Reply

I am using an Indica V2 Diesel since 2004. Have run for 78000 kms. without any problems except a service every 10000 kms. I feel the car is fit to give me another 50000 kms. trouble free.My personal opinion is that TATA cars are very good value for money and are trouble free if taken care of and driven as recommended. | Reply

First thing TATAs are not making money from your Savings, thats why they are not in the list of world's billioniare list.Second thing they are not the core manufacturer of Cars so it is possible to have some problems with the car service centres and machenics over their. We will definately resolve it this time. | Reply

This company has manyfactured Nano. This has forced other manufacturers like Hyundai, GM etc to think of manufacturing ultra low cost cars. They are segment creators and they have done this many times. I m sure Manza is going to repeat the same. As far as after sales service goes, the same has improved substantially in the past 2-3 years. Cheers | Reply

I hope someone from the TATA Motors reads this column and takes it up very seriously. Getting into acquisitions or bringing out new brands dont serve any purpose until the defects of the earlier models are eradicated/rectified , else it tends to creep on to the newer model, turning it out to be yet another failure. | Reply

Yes, I am driving an Indigo for the last 5 years. I bought the car as I was a mad patriot. First 2-3 years was OK. Then the car started giving problems. The after sales service is pathetic. I had a problem with coolant leak. I tried 3 different service agencies and spent over Rs. 41000 for this simple problem that troubled me for more than 6 months.. Furstated I finaly went to a road side workshop and who in the first glance itself, said " Sir, your coolant tank has cracked and so it is leaking". He took just Rs. 300 and replaced it. The problem got solved after that. PATHETIC Service is likley to kill this company in the long run | Reply

As stated rightly by many here, TATA scores terribly bad where Suzuki and Hyundai score 100/100. I would not say TATA products are cheap or lags behind in terms of technology used, but they certainly do not come with the same assurance one gets with a Hyundai or a Suzuki, when it comes to after sales service. The new Indica vista is a good car, consider its price, it’s got decent value of money proposition too but how many takers does it really have?? Very few…. Trust me, I have not done any analysis to say this, but as a layman, I am just writing what I see on the roads… number of Vistas compared to number of cars from other manufacturers… The reason is simple, people don’t just find the new Indica Vista convincing enough to own one and main culprit can be rooted to the very bad after sales service image TATA has. It makes more sense if TATA could invest more to strengthen its after sales service than spend billions on new acquisitions… | Reply

Tata has to price the car very carefully. Maruti Dzire is the current leader in this particular segment and sells the car at very good price. Vista is really good so i expect that Manza will also be good but they need to be very careful about the price else people will prefer Dzire only. Dzire is very nice car to have !!! | Reply

If the folks criticising the tata design dept. are appreciative of the Punto / Linea , then i guess its ok. But if these gentelman think The swifts / Dezires / estilos / wagon rS/ A STARs/ Ritz of this world are exciting designs or aspirational then less said the better. Tata makes quite good looking cars with good interior space , reasonable passanger comfort , and exceptional value in both fuel economy, cost of ownership and ,most importantly upfront cost. They have their share of niggles and in some ways the older genaration cars had a distinct lack of refinement. Having said that they have improved drastically and the new generation cars are quite refined - Vista , New Safari V.T.T. 2.2 and Sumo grande and even the nano. If everybody who is tata baiter have atleast had a resonable exposure to any of these cars and not judging them by cars designd a genaration earlier , and still feels they dont compare favorably with competetion in the same price , size and features dept. then they are welcome to their opinion. but to mock a indigenous production house with a blatant bias for or against without constructive reasoning is unfortunate. I for one own Hyundai Accent petrol , and Tata Indigo diesel . The accent is quite refined is like a race horse and the Indigo is more like a tireless mustang., extremely frugal fuel sipper and cheap to maintain. People select their wheels by their perception of their requirement, market perception of an image of a car , marketing gimmicks and sometimes by budget too. I am pained by the way folks badmouth about otherb people's choices ( note the word Ugly in some of the reviews ). Poor choice of words and completely off the mark in the first place. | Reply

Well they could honestly have had someone to look at the design before they just put it there. Initially I thought maybe they took all of 2 minutes to design that UGLY back, but I realised, that you have to be either a genius to do it in 2 minutes (really bad one) or you'd need a whole team of 100 designers working 6 months non stop to design it. tata's: ever heard of market research or focus group? Some one commented that Maruti Suzuki does not produce their own diesel engines.Global brands do not fit diesel engines for cars. Diesel engines are meant for commercial vehicles. Ask anyone who is working in the Middle East. India is a poor country and people prefer diesel engines to petrol engines just because they can' afford the former one.Tata was rated ' the worst' in customer satisfaction surveys where as Maruti rated the best. Tata is crippled by its miniature form of lorry engines they use in their cars.If they use Fiat engines in their cars, then they will top the charts. | Reply

TATA obviously doesnt build great cars. Inspite of Indica being brought in huge numbers by Tour operators, Tata Motors is in loss. Why? just because people who own Tata vehicles definitely did not give it good rating because of poor quality and 3rd grade service. Sold it and bought an Innova the last year which I'm more than satisfied with. Then I started a travel agency earlier this year and bought an Indica and an Indigo (along with 2 Chev. Tavera) for it. The AC is much improved. But there are some issues with my Indica, incl. poor suspension. Service is still not upto the standards, but there ain't any better option for the same price range. | Reply

Well Tata cars are build to the price and if you look at the practicality they do score more over the nearest car in the price band. Compare Indica or Indica Vista with equally priced cars from Maruti or Hyundai and see for yourself which one is giving you value for your hard own money. Tata's product after Indica Vista will be much more better in more than one department then the competition. Lets face the reality. Lets not forget that Tata is just 10years old kid in car segment where as Suzuki is 50 years and Hyundai around 40years. | Reply

For TATA, Such a known company in INDIA and to the WORLD, See how they are playing the Game? Their marketing trend is just to target the normal people who just want to buy a car for the sake of buying a car and might be for a little prestige. Mostly TATA cars are bought by those taxi operaters and budget concern people. Quality levels of TATA products are at minimum level where they meet certanl specs only. I do like their NEW SAFARI, But other models are very very poor in quality. Actually people are expecting more from TATA for less money. TATA is the company in INDIA can make this happen, like a reasonably good SUV for under 5 lakhs. Please don't tell me that TATA Engineers do not know about this. More over, you get the call from the supervisor for rating them badly! If they fix the problem with their service, they will rock. On the other side, I have Maruti car as well and their service is the best....I have never had such problems! And I am sure TATA may want to follow Maruti...... | Reply

TATA builds great cars which are definitely affordable but on the flip side - they do need to look into the quality of materials. The plastics start ratting and the A/C vents lose a couple of 'fins' or become really loose - the lines on a brand new TATA vehicle will not be straight, the doors not having the same gaps.So if these aspects can be looked into - TATA cars will be even better. | Reply

Hi All, I bought my First TATA car, (Indigo marina Lx tdi Jazz Blue), in Oct 2005 which was my first car since i had moved to India in 2001. Its has been a breath of fresh air owning it since i had the opportunity to travel most of our country very economically, 3years and 85000Kms and she still cruises smoothly on our highways.I am keenly awaiting the launch of the all new Indigo as I have almost about to touch the one lack figure on my odometer by the end of this year. I am eager and hoping that soon after the launch of the sedan there should be some hope to see the launch of the New Indigo Marina | Reply

Any probable launch dates of Indigo Vista? the sales men at tata showrooms are as blank as the customers. It has been along wait now and no confirmation of launch by Sept 09. | Reply

I made the biggest mistake of my life by incvesting in a Tata car. The car has hardly dome 7000 Kms and is an year old. But I have had a whole range of trouble with it already. Starting from the AC, gears, ignition control system etc. Moreover, there is some or the other vibration noise coming from somewhere in the car. I have been doing rounds of service stations since last 3 months and still not satisfied with what they have done with the car. Shame on Tata. They should stick to manufacturing dingy trucks.Cars are not their cup of tea. | Reply

I am using TATA Indica since 2002 and still believe buying another Indian car may be from TATA as its Indian company and are value for money. Also this is only way we can help boosting our economic by buying Indian products be it anything. We Indian keep on appreciating foreign products in comparison of our own. Is it fair? We would need to keep on buying Indian products then only we will have better Indian products in Future. I have no intention to hurt anyody, so please pardon me if anybody disagree with my opinion. | Reply

Now a days Tata Cars are equal to Foreign makes. If Tata Indigo make vista Big Rims,18Inch Radial Tubeless tyres with both disc breaks with Superb Steering with size of SX4 of price taq of Below5Lakhs will be fine to throw away all the other cars from market.Tata is the one and only can bring both quality and affordable price in all the products. | Reply

Im a Tata indigo user from 2003. I've just done about 36000 km on it and the car is pretty new that way.. but it creaks and groans and absolutely does not respond when you accelerate after braking.. Pickup with AC is pathetic.. and service stations rob you. there is no proper finishing like other international brands.. it looks like an INDIAN has kept his hand on the car while designing it..Sad but true | Reply

Tata cars are good value for money.Still their servicing facilities are not as good as maruti or hyundai. I would recommend them to start franchisee authorised service stations like maruti has done. | Reply

Tata needs to improve build quality and driving performance of its carslike the Fiat Cars and offer them at a very reasonable price, which meansselling high quality cars for low cost like Mahindra n Mahindra has done, which will help build volumes for the Tata Motors. | Reply

i don't know who the hell is the designer for TATA cars. They are outdated, ugly and horrible looking. They can't even learn or steal designs from other better contenders, like they always do. There is a thing called elegance, proportions and styling in cars, which seems to be missign OFF their dictionaries. Take a look for e.x. at the headlights in this car...the side view specifically. Seems like they should hire a new car designer, who has some sense of cars and not boxes. Shame on Tata that they can't even keep their reputaion amongst the koreans either. Even the chinese would be better at designing. Sad to say, but Mr Ratan Tata needs to do his homework more efficiently and a change over in his auto industry ASAP... | Reply

Surely Tata is not going to replace the current Indigo with this one and it will be priced notch higher then the current Indigo then why Tata is not launching it with a brand new name? I believe that the tag "Indica" incase of Indica Vista and "indigo" with this car will no allow this car to sale like a hot cake.. These are my personal views as I wanted to buy a hatch back and though Indica Vista appeals me the most in terms of interior space and good engine options (FIAT) I kept myself away from it just cause its a "Indica"!! | Reply

Hope that this car sets the charts on fire. Its smaller sibbling the Indica Vista has not been able to stir the competition to a very great extent. However its made Maruti to stand on its toes to some extent. | Reply
