New Pulsar 150 DTSi: Pulsar 150 gets sportier

05 Feb 2010

Along with announcements of the naked version of the 'Fastest Indian?, Bajaj Auto has also launched a revised Pulsar 150 with some important upgrades that move the bike away from its commuter appeal and bring it bang into the league of the performers.

Visually, the bike remains more or less unchanged albeit one major rejig. The standard handlebars on the 150 have been ditched for sportier clip-ons. Given that the Pulsar 150 was the only bike in the Pulsar range to not have clip-ons, this move brings the bike into the league of its other siblings.

The bike has also received a power bump - the new engine now pumps out 15.06bhp, thanks to a larger 29mm venturi carburetor, a redesigned intake system and a retuned exhaust that may look like the old one, but helps the bike to pack a meaner punch.

The revamped Pulsar 150 has been priced at Rs 60,020 (ex-showroom Delhi).

y does Baja degrade their bikes? Pulsar upgraded from 150 180 200 200 n straight to 135. Discover started from 125 135 and down to 100. and all their bikes hav a good life of only 4 years. | Reply

If people dont want changes as per time then i thing people should go for Labretta scooter that is gud for the people who dont want changes. Now if u compare Pulsar with any other bike in its segment its far far ahead of amongst them. i am coutenously wtching bajaj is update their bike in every three year and three years is not short time. see honda ciity that company is also making changes in three years. Even HH also tried with lots of model like CBZ extreme, HH hunk, splender NXG but all were super flop. if u see 5 bike are passing on the road u will find 3 of them Pulsar and rest 2 all other companies. | Reply

whether soprty or non sporty, with the number of two-wheelers boom on the road, is there a space to ride them on the road- or else to keep as show-peace in home?? | Reply

yes i do agree with you see at the pulsar although it looks awesome but design is nt perfect and is nt as comfortable for apillion rider like hh so i do prefer HH than a newly changed pulsar | Reply

wow............. I do not find any problem with bajaj carrying the pulsar brand as it has been their flagship brand the making changes in it to improve its performance and looks. But i would differ with madhur on the point that bajaj is showing way to japanese as they well ahead of bjaj on the matter of technology. BUT after saying so i would like to repeat the wordsHAMARA BAJAJ | | Reply

have you guys ever thought of about honda civic or toyota corrolla. These are best selling cars in its segment across the globe. even without major changes in the technology, they are superb.. I think is bajaj is itself very much confused about its products and indian market...that`s why Hero honda is numero uno with 25 year old technology. | Reply
  • MADHUR BAYA (13 February 2010 23:46)
Shantanu and Bharat...would you drink water that's been stored for any more than a day?? Why is river water sweet and sea water salty and smelly?? Hero Honda has fooled Indian consumers long enough selling an utterly out-dated product with an engine designed more than 25 years ago...and they've sold their millions of bikes only on the platform of fuel efficiency...no new or cutting edge tech...and here's Bajaj, which is showing not only other Indian manufacturers but also the Japs the art of developing technology... | Reply

i agree with Santunu... too much of innovation in a single product, i think that bajaj dont have any good name for bike or what still using Pulsar brand to sell their products, changing bits and pieces in a already good bike wont help thier cause, instead take the egine and design a new concept bike... we are bored of the same pulsar again and again | Reply
deepak j (13 February 2010 19:07) Reply to Bharat Singh
are you not bored hero honda splendour and passion it is also same, not much change but selling like bread and butter for HH,this is india price play very importnat role.quality first price second.pulsar shld continue with more refinement. | Reply

i m nt mistaken pulsar 150 gt their makeover recently.bajaj is surely running short f idea. | Reply
  • Santunu (12 February 2010 20:29)
Bajaj is short on ideas now. nobody will like to buy their vehicles anymore because of the fear that it will not even last one year and will become outdated. If the Bajaj people can give better exchange values for their older prodcuts than at least people have some option. Look at Hero Honda they stick with their products. Bajaj should think of that and avoid too much changing in its product in regular intervals. | Reply

You are talking as "iski shirt meri shirt se safed kaise". Come on dude, if u wanna have the new features in your bike den go for another new brand, why just always wanna have an latest model while still paying the price for old. | Reply
Arjit Mishra (14 February 2010 09:26) Reply to Santunu
I don't understand why you buy a bike, the choice is dependant on your needs and if someone is providing you freshly designed and reinnovated product that is tested with time would you not buy it for the fear that it may become outdated day after tomorrow because a newer version may be released and opt for the same old timers bike which has retained its shape and outdated technology for years.Man if upgrades are available and under the same name whats the harm? If you have enough faith in your bike market will never let you down with lack of spares for enhancing its life. If this is not the question then you always have an option of getting an upgraded bike. | Reply
anjan (13 February 2010 23:09) Reply to Santunu
don't you like upgrades? If bajaj is continually improving their pulsar what is the harm? | Reply
