New Platina 125 from Bajaj Auto

Varad More 11 Mar 2010

India's second largest motorcycle manufacturer, Bajaj Auto has launched the new Platina 125 motorcycle at an extremely aggressive price-point with host of features usually found on one segment higher motorcycles.

After launching two new products in premium band of motorcycles, Bajaj Auto has once again switched its focus onto the highly lucrative entry-level motorcycle market with the new Platina 125 motorcycle. The price-tag of Rs. 36,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi), makes the new Platina the cheapest motorcycle in the country with an electric start as a standard fitment.

Apart from new graphics and all-black paint scheme, externally the design remains unchanged. In the melee of the 100cc workhorses, the Platina is also the only one to feature a 5-speed transmission at such an incredible price-tag. Commenting on the occasion, Mr. S Sridhar, CEO (Two Wheeler), Bajaj Auto Ltd, said, "The new Platina 125cc is a workhorse with premium features like Electric Start and 5-Speed gear box as standard. This bike makes for easy commuting even on rough roads and provides an amazing value for money package."

With the new Platina 125, the Akurdi-based bike-maker is once again hoping to strengthen its position in the steadily growing mass motorcycle segment. The entry-level motorcycle market cannot be ignored by any bike-maker, as this segment packs in immense potential for multiple players to successfulBly thrive in a densely populated country like ours.

Go for TVS Star city/sports. It has great build quality and stable upto 85km/h and also has very good mileage of 70-75km/l on road. | Reply

I have purchased this bike. I used to ride Sp for almost 5 years. I can tell you that this is a much superior product. BAJAJ should do some good marketing campaign to highlight the stupendous value for money proposition of this product | Reply

bajaj should also put some effort on stability of the bike. the platina feels very unsafe and unstable at speed more than 50 kmph also while braking at such speeds i almost fell once, but was lucky to survive..... ....Hope the bajaj r | Reply

I have been a Bajaj fan all along, at this time the consumer is king (of the road) and off it. The two wheeler market exhibits a fairly elastic demand si this is a definite winner. They did this a long time back with the boxer too. Their lean production system should help them keep costs low. | Reply

The strategy for Pulsur 135 is ambiguous..It feels like Pulsur Junior image will hamper the Macho image in the coming times..Platina however is a clearcut strategy of winner pricing.. | Reply

This would really be a come and bang kind of strategy. Electric start and 5 speed transmission at such a price point, definitely no competition at all from any maker. Hats off to 'Hamara Bajaj.' | Reply
