It's sad that everyone is crying foul about how high is the price and how low is the CC for the price. Why is everyone forgetting that the cost of the bike is the sum of all the parts and not just the engine capacity. I guess these morons will be happy just fitting a 1 litre engine in a cycle frame, pay 5 lacs and push it home. | Reply

Congrats and Welcome to Ninja, the much awaited one!Ninja, the real Kawasaki was the one that sold like hot cakes through out the world and still is. Thanks to Bajaj to getting the same to India, rather giving a different one to Indians like others. Honda, Yahama and Suzukhi has come with thieir original one which is of higner capacity and very expensive, even through they have low capacity bilke. They have made different one for Indians, Why is this? Thanks to Bajaj again. | Reply

well someone commented about Yamaha being high priced. true they are high priced but they are true value for money in every sense. Perfect aerodynamics with the R15 at a 150cc bike going at 140Kmph its really amazing. Not to mention they are the ones with the legendary RD-350 capable of going faster than the Ninja 250 :P. Yes the price tag for a 250CC bike is way high 2 to 2.2Lacs on road price would have been more appropriate. btw all i have to say wait for it Aprilla is coming out soon and so is Yamaha's 250CC bikes i also heard that they are modifying the R15 to get its 250CC engine. So wait for it. | Reply
Sagar (15 October 2009 01:13) Reply to Sagar
Also just commenting on my earlier comments. i am not comparing CC over here. i am just comparing the Price tag and the technology. 250CC, 100CC everything makes no sense. its all the technology that matters. on that basis i agree to those guys who are saying the price tag is way too much. Bajaj is just trying to capitalize on the initial launch thats it. as far as i know about bikes. The best bike in the 250CC cadre is coming out Honda Aprilla :) | Reply

anyone saying " its a 250 cc Bike.. wtf why so expensive!!!" is only putting out their ignorance for display on the internet.CC is not the end all be all factor by which one can judge the performance of a bike.a 3 GHZ PIII processor wont be faster than a 1.66 Core 2 Duo.Its the drive, power transmission, loss of power, and technology that define sport bikes,Baja Chetak was more than 100 cc. Could it then out do even a CD 100 ?I am an indian but I must say when it comes to sport biking much of us ppl have absolutely no clue what performance is. If we dont have the money for something we blame it on the product being bad.Ohh and I own 2 litre class bikes one of which is an MT 01 Yam. So I aint bullshitting. | Reply

headlight?- bright enough. Single seater? - it's got a rear seat cowl. looks small? - it's called compact design. front no. plate out of place? - blame RTO. Overpriced? - read my post above. fuel mileage worries? - buy a Hero Honda CD100 and stick to it. Bottom line- The Ninja's not for you. | Reply

Guys, the price justified here is because it comes through the CKD (completely knocked down) route which in simple terms means the bike comes in various pieces and its all assembled here in India. No part is manufactured here in our country. If you think why some manufacturers are able to price their products much lesser than their competition but still throw a lot of features is because of the amount of localization (parts sourced from local suppliers) that goes into the manufacturing of the product. Again, this is going to be more of a lifestyle product and looking at the volumes (forecasted is just 1000 p a) this bike is going to sell in, I don’t think Bajaj or Kawasaki would be interested to look at having any amount of localization in the coming years. Also, it’s the import duty structure that exists in our country that shoots the prices up and I don’t think mere dollar to rupee conversion is the right way of determining if a product is overpriced in the domestic market. Summing up, it’s a cult image and what you are going to get for the money you pay is image and a whole lot of fun!! | Reply

Agreed that this is a bike for only performance. But look at this way.... For pure performance, one would need to go off city limits. What if it breaks down? By importing major components, Bajaj have distanced themselves from Ninja maintenance. This does not have any USP of Bajaj:- VFM, maintenance or spare parts. If the sales volume are low then the ones who have bought this machine will need to pay dearly. I would prefer a bike built in india from someone like Yamaha or Honda. That way atleast one can "live with the bike". The high cost will only result in exclusivity. The twin cylinder engines demand more care then Single cylinder ones like regular oil change and furbishing. Lets see how everything sums up on our Indian Roads!!!!! | Reply

The initial hype created around this bike was in itself uncalled for. Please remember that this is not a Bajaj Bike. Its a Kawasaki product. So...the Indian bike industry goes no where. Secondly, because of the hefty price tag, no Indian manufacturer will even think of trying to come up with a similar offering. Its a nice to have toy for the rich kids and thats all about it. Not a practical purchase which is actually a sad thing. World wide, the 250CC Ninja is seen as a practical bike to own and its priced reasonably. But India is always the exception. Be it cars or bikes, the Japanese marques have always been overpriced. Personally, I expected the pricing to be around the Comet's region...may be a tad higher. But this ones gone right through the roof. May be if Kawasaki decides to get into a JV with Bajaj and starts manufacturing the m/c here, the price will be more practical. | Reply

too costly, it is totally unfair, and unlucky for indians to pay 3.00 lakhs for a bike costing 1.5 laksh, even though the import duty is less for ckd bikes, it is not worth buying for 3 laksh for which u can buy 3 nanos or 1 santro, or a good car. or 6 pulsars. | Reply

  • The Finnomenon (08 October 2009 09:17)
I think comparing this to the new Karizma is rather stupid - this is a different class and breed of machine. What's painful is that compared to even the Comet (another 250cc twin w/ around the same amount of power), it costs over a lakh more. I've got the Yam R15, and while Bajaj's pricing looks more like they'd rather sell their own Pulsars than the Ninja, even Yamaha isn't pricing their products cheap. Think about it. Even if Yamaha or Honda come out with their 250 now, I have this rather uncomfortable feeling they're gonna price it similarly or worse... | Reply

very very disacppointedbuying this bike is giving invitation to income tax officers to raid you.Someone tell Mr Bajaj and dont repeat what BMW did with 650 Fundoro. You will bite dust. Till Rs1.5lac is justified for fun. Big Mota Seths wont buy this for sure, they will better buy Merc or ....For youngsters this is way too muchso for bajaj officials f.... your own a.. | Reply

I guess someone should email these comments for Mr Baja. We are ones who were counting days for its launch. I can afford the price but i would be called crazy in my family and friends, till 1.5lac some can spend for fun, if u spend bloody 3.5lac, you will definately be in the eye of income tax officers. So if you can F*** your own A** | Reply

Wake up Rajiv Bajaj... We aren't fools... A bike brought through CKD route should be costing atleat INR.1 Lac less then this... Do you think you'll get customer for your "baby" Ninja??? I don't think so beacuse at this price only those people will buy who know nothing about bikes | Reply

Oooopsss, Till now people who were complanig about Yamaha bikes have to shut their mouths and will have to eat them back. At this price I think Yamaha can offer FZ6. Which is any day better, 4 pots and blindly sells as many as rest all makers put together sell in 600cc segment. | Reply

this stands out of consideration.. considering bajaj's reputation for bringing vfm for its products, this is indeed disappointing... | Reply

Kawasaki did it again. Initially reluctuant to get manufacture of Eliminater which became flop for it's exhorbitant pricing b'se of imported 175cc engine. Now it's Ninja's turn to suffer from exhorbitant pricing. Instead of imposing CKD operations Kawasaki should let Bajaj manufature in India before enthusiasts desert the interest in the bike> | Reply

An absolute dissapointment at that price and after such a long wait.Cheers yamaha, great bikes and great pricing. A 250 cc bike at 3 lakhs is stupid. I have done too many review on the same and its an absolutely fantastic bike. But a big no no at that price. | Reply

It's too expensive to be bought. @ around 3.3 lakhs on road, I don't feel it's worth to be paid for and Bajaj could have manufactured it instead CKD operations. | Reply
