Buying a Car ? Get Best Deal

India's second largest car manufacturer Hyundai Motors India Ltd will unveil the i10 electric during the 2010 Auto Expo. The i10 Electric which made its debut to the Indian audience in October 2007, was also showcased at the Frankfurt Motor Show in mid September this year.

In place of the 1.1 or 1.2 litre petrol engines which power the Hyundai 10. in India and overseas, the i10 Electric will be powered by a 49kW (66.6 PS) electric motor under the hood and driving its front wheels.

Hyundai Motor India already has a strong line-up of alternate fuel technology like: Santro CNG & LPG, Accent CNG & LPG and i10 CNG in India. The unveiling of the i10 Electric further reconfirms Hyundai's commitment to develop environmentally friendly cars for the global automobile market.

Apart from the current product line-up, Hyundai Motor India pavilion will also display its futuristic technology in the form of concept.

NO DOUBT UNVEILING OF i10 WILL BE VERY BENEFICIAL FOR MARKET FROM POLLUTION POINT OF VIEW AS WELL AS SAVING OF PETROLEUM ENERGY.BUT THESE ALL THING DEPENDS ON HOW MUCH THIS IS , ECONOMIC,DURABILITY OF BATTERY,COST OF BATTERY ENERGY CONSUMPTION IN BATTERY CHARGING,AND PERFORMANCE ON ROAD. THE MOST IMPORTANT THING HOW A PERSON HAS TO INVEST ON THIS. | Reply

Hyundai i10 electric will be successful in the market only if the company assures its durability as to battery, cost of battery, its longevity, etc. | Reply

Great attempt by Hyundai. It is the need of the hour to have alternate fuel cars.Because we spend thousands of rupees in moving from home to office every month and also pollute our environment. It is the right of every individual to inhale fresh air at no cost.Hyunday should launch the car as early as possible and with in the reach of common man.My best wishes to Hyundai. | Reply

What about the electricity produced using fossil fuels for charging those batteries? I doubt the efficiency of conversion. | Reply

How can electric cars be environment friendly? Only Solar powered engines can be green; nothing else. | Reply
 Sharma M C L (31 December 2009 10:20) Reply to Kumar
The current global environmental crisis is a result of not just vehicular emissions but also Industrial waste gases. Infact Industrial waste gases contribute to higher pollution than vehicles. Imagine a city with all conventional petrol or diesel vehicles being replaced by electric vehicles. The city would boast of clean air. However manufacturing batteries and disposing the batteries would be resulting in pollution isn't it? Right. But the pollution is less compared to conventional fuel driven vehicles. In a petrol or diesel vehicle, pollution results from manufacturing these fuels, transporting them to bunks and even when used by vehicles. In electric vehicles, manufacturing pollution is lesser compared to conventional fuels and during usage it is zero. Only transportation is causing pollution. Solar powered vehicles are not practical. You need an energy storage device such as battery to power the vehicle even if a solar panel is used. This is because sunshine is not constant. And what would you do in the evening when sun goes down? As a result, solar panels could just be used for charging batteries. If you have heard of mars lander robotic vehicle sent by NASA on Mars you would know this problem. If you manufacture battery powered vehicles, sooner or later you could replace the lead based batteries with environment friendly batteries in future. | Reply

Ghar ko roshan karne ke liye electricity nahi hai aur chale sab cars ko electric car se replace karne!!!!!! In India main source to genrate electricity is thermal power stations...which use coal and other combustible materials....which in turn are one of the main sources of global pollution and warming.....so we should consider these electric cars only once nuclear power comes to India with a clean method to produce electricity | Reply

Dude, take bay steps can leap to moon directly. Getting electric vehicle is the 1st step at least that will allow to have control at macro level that is even with coal based power generation there are various options to check pollution atleast that will centralized the source of pollution and help to keep check much easier and as and when nuclear is available this can be easily swapped, what do u guys say ??
