Buying a Bike? Get Best Deal

Honda launched their new 110cc CB Twister motorcycle in New Delhi today. The new bike is aimed to offer style and looks in the entry-level segment at an affordable cost. The design borrows styling cues from Honda's premium streetfighter model, the CB1000R and it also has similar looking paint schemes available. The entry-level segment in India has shown strong growth recently and it is one segment that no manufacturer can ignore. Honda was lacking its presence in this segment and with the CB Twsiter, the company has now ventured into the 100cc-110cc market, which has been primarily dominated by Hero Honda for over two decades.

CB Twister

The CB Twister is powered by an all-new 110cc single cylinder engine with a high-lift camshaft and off-set crankshaft to improve its efficiency. The bike produces 9PS of power and Honda claims that the bike will return 70km per litre. The power is transmitted to the rear wheel via a four-speed gearbox and the top-of-the-line model of the Twister also features a 240mm disc brake upfront. Improving the value-for-money quotient, the CB Twister also gets tubeless tyres (first time in this segment) for added safety and lesser chances of getting stranded on the road due to a puncture - a good feature especially for the rural buyers.

The new CB Twister does look like a promising model in the entry level segment as it brings along great styling, Honda's reliability and good fuel economy at an affordable cost. Unveiled at an introductory price-tag of Rs. 42,000 (Ex-showroom, Delhi), the actual pricing will be disclosed at the 2010 Auto Expo in New Delhi. The bike is available in five colour schemes and three variants, namely - kick-start with drum brake, self-start with drum brake and a fully loaded self-start with disc brake. Lets see Honda do the Twist!

Instead of commenting on Honda and Yamaha, can India inc. come with her own model of motorcycle to compete with the foreign made motorcycles in local and foreign markets. | Reply
AJ (14 December 2009 09:34) Reply to Vijay
Yes Vijay why not ~ will you buy a bike costing you 38.5 lac and assure me a sale of 1K units in a month and I assure you will get bikes more powerful then japanese mule...necessity is the mother of all invention...when a necessity arises powerful bikes would be built or rather to say because of one Vijay India Inc would not invest a multi million project....when tata can make nano...cheapest car..why not the dearest car also..but how many people will purchase..same is the case with bikes...remember 1980s we use to have the Rajdoot and Ind Suzuki and so on and today pulsar aka baja, karizma aka hero honda are the 2 names that rule in the markets..with the rise in demand and purchasing power companies have come up with good bikes so in during the course of time, if demand rises you and I will see some good looking powerful bikes from India that will not be among the best but the best.... | Reply

I'm pretty sure this vehicle would be loved by most of the rural people. Honda has alwayb been reliable; be it in 2 wheeler or 4wheelers. I've experienced both. And this bike seems to be a gr8 fit for rough roads.Cheersss to honda..... | Reply

Honda has indeed been the brand people equate with superior quality and refinement. Let's not blame the vehicle for our misadventures or fall-outs. | Reply

I think it's a combination of CBZ Xtreme and Honda stunner. Don't they have any other styling "Mantras" with them? | Reply
Sagar (11 December 2009 09:20) Reply to Raj
There is very little that you can do as far as styling bikes is concerned. Look around and you will see that most of the bikes look similar. In fact Bajaj has so run out of design ideas that they are lauching Pulsar in every segment. | Reply
 Jehan A D (11 December 2009 21:42) Reply to Sagar
I think Sagar you are blind even when you can see that the new Pulsar 135 or whatever is a completely new design. But getting Pulsars across the range is no bad thing when we have Yamaha with a range of Fazers from 1000cc all the way down to 150cc! | Reply

I dont get it, Hero Honda is there and now honda is coming in alone. Competition for its own brand? or is honda going to go alone later on? | Reply
Sagar (11 December 2009 09:17) Reply to Ranjit
Honda started going on alone when they lauched Activa and started production on their own. The only thing that they offer to HH are their engines and technology, but that costs HH more now than it used to. | Reply

Twisters Scopes/FLAPS looks like copied from P200-180's scopes by setting in reverse order. It gives site of a scopes copied from Fazer n stunner off course..!!No innovations ...Only Copying theory followed by HONDA similar to TVS..!! | Reply

hmmm........now de question arrives......who has copied whom......take a look at de front cowl of de honda n de new bajaj pulsar 135ls.............both look exactly similar............... | Reply
Jai (10 December 2009 18:29) Reply to porschefire
even I got the same doubt... both are copied from HeroHonda Hunk and Apache. Only difference - honda retained the rear from Shine and Bajaj from Discover. Or thinking out of the box, maybe a case of industrial espionage gone badly wrong? :-) | Reply
 Jehan A D (11 December 2009 21:45) Reply to Jai
Fired up Porsche or not and surely not Jai Ho but you seem to have made up your mind on everything just from images. I think you will be surprised when you see the actual bikes. But yes overall the new Pulsar smaller though it might be comes across looking and feeling much better. | Reply
 Ashok (12 December 2009 02:10) Reply to Jehan A D
Mr Jehan. You are funny indeed. I see you are standing up a bit too much for Bajaj. No issues for me but your message itself, you contradict that you are saying. You are taking exception to Jai making his mind just from images while you yourself do the same for Pulsar. Why this step motherly treatment to Honda while you try and improve brand Bajaj. I didnt know Bajaj delaerships pays emplyees/agents to browse internet and do soft marketing too.
