Buying a Bike ? Get Best Deal

Harley Davidson India lauched its range of products in India at the 2010 Auto Expo in New Delhi.

It introduced one model from each of its five families starting from the street-based Sportster series to its premium touring model, the Roadking Classic. The bikes were launched by Anoop Prakash, MD, Harley Davidson India. The bikes will be brought in via the CBU Import route. The dealerships will soon be operational and the company will also provide finance options to the buyers.

The highlight of the launch is the ultra-competitive pricing of the bikes. While the current crop of CBU imports costs well over Rs.10 lakh, the starting range of Harley Davidson motorcycles that includes the 883 Sportster, will retail at Rs. 6.95 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi). The most expensive model will be the grand tourer, the Roadking, which has been priced at Rs. 34 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi). Also available will be the VRod motorcycle alongwith Harley's most iconic model, the Fatboy. To celebrate Harley Davidson's entry into India, the company has also introduced a special edition Fatboy model that is painted in the Indian tricolour livery.

I have a Harley Dyna, a lovely bike. The duty i have to pay to get it into India is a killer. I hope the Govt is sympathetic towards returning Indians. | Reply

The comment makes into my mind,"U r life wont be the same again".This was the punch line said by the founder for the person who first sat on the HD.Lets also think like that and gohead with a HD. | Reply

Its great news for the bike lovers. But the bikes are out of reach for most of Indian bike lovers. If harley wants to make a mark in India,it should think about setting shop here and come up with a HD designed and made for India...a 500CC V Twin would do the job provided its priced reasonably.I hope RE is listning to the HD roars...:-) | Reply

I wouldnt want HD to b made in india.... d high price tag is justified cause u will not get tht quality if made here n plus they will ve to reduce the CC n power to match indian laws | Reply

Harley has done a great job by fixing a great price. See even Nija was priced around 2.5 lakh rupees. Thus we will see reudction in prices and lowering costs by Japanese bikers. | Reply
Concorde (08 January 2010 05:05) Reply to PRADEEP SIDDHARTH
I agree with you on that. But I don't think the Japanese would get back marked in the competition as many people in India still prefer the Sports Bike than Cruiser and the price too is way incomparable..!! Have we seen any Ninja's on the roads as yet? | Reply
  • Dalip Sooden (05 January 2010 17:55)
Harley is a Big name. This will encourage Japanese cruiser Bikes to come up with Bikes of 500 cc and above at much cheaper price. | Reply

Indian bike market seems to be getting matured. | Reply
Syiem (06 January 2010 10:08) Reply to Vikas Chopra
Saturated would be a better word. Most people in India buy a bike because they cannot afford better. People who can afford to throw away a million rupees on a bike are actually quite capable of spending 3 million on an entry level BM or Merc. | Reply
