Harley-Davidson Boot Camp!

Vikram Gour 06 Nov 2009

Buying a Car ? Get Best Deal

Boot Camp. Two words that cause you think about a hard day of running around with a very strict sergeant yelling orders. Fun, would not be a word associated with Boot Camp, however if you happen to be Harley-Davidson, then the entire subject takes a sharp U-turn and what you have is an event that is educational and fun.

Held recently in Delhi, the first Harley-Davidson India Boot Camp was an insight to the 2010 range of Harley-Davidson bikes that are destined for the country next year. The Auto Expo will be the platform for the US bike manufacturer to announce their range as well and the much awaited pricing of these bikes, but that is still a couple months away and here at the Boot Camp, I was itching to get on a Harley-Davidson for the first time in my life!

The educational program walked the group through the different Harley families, namely the CVO, Touring, VRSC, Softail, Dyna, and Sportster models. Each bike is a unique statement towards style, beauty, form and function. If you have ever laid your eyes on a Harley-Davidson, you'll know exactly what I'm talking about. It's that swelling up feeling that builds from deep inside you, the desire to just be able to pilot one of these machines, and of course to be part of a cult that has over a million followers! Incidentally Harley-Davidson has over 31 models that belong to one of these families, however in India we will see a smaller range initially and hopefully as the popularity of these bikes grow, the entire range should be made available.

I think that its wonderfull that people in India now have a chance, to see, hear, ride and perhaps own, such a remarkable motorcycle, people allways dream, a nice wife, good and healthy children, house, car and many other thinks we wish for. Im very happy for the people of India to at least be able to choose now what they wish to ride, or even just enjoy dreaming about, my to regards to all in the country enjoy your bikeing | Reply

These Americans are again trying to dump their expensive garbage on us. I agree there is a certain appeal to a Harley, but ask anyone who has owned one for any reasonable time-frame and he would tell you that the bloody monster falls apart every 500 miles. Check this fact out. HD's have some serious quality issues that we in India are not aware of! | Reply

I've owned motorbikes for 25 years now (started with Japanese and ended with HD's). HD's have BETTER quality than any other bikes around.Once you go HD you don't go back dude, so stop this bullcrap about things you don't know! | Reply

Who is saying there is no road in India ..... Buddy those days are over... When did you visit India for the last time. Try doing a long drive in India, you have pretty good roads now. Chennai Madurai ... which use to take 14 hrs in 2001 just takes 6.5 hrs now ... for 450 Kms, thats about 85 Kmph average... and I have to mention that It includes .5 hrs that I wasted in tirucy traffic. I drove a small car so didnt go beyong 100 for safety reasons .... Could've done it a bit faster with a bigger car !! | Reply

But still we have come a far way.. That's the reason HD has entered in to the market. Though in UK, we find lots of Bikers. But they still prefer biking on weekends.. It;s more of statement rather than usual biking.. | Reply
