The most hardcore M3 yet!
If you thought that the BMW M3 was fast, then prepare for a shock as the Bavarian automaker has just gone and one-upped itself. Look past the friendly orange paintjob and you'll see the most hardcore road-legal M3 to date - the GTS. Scheduled to go on sale in Germany in May 2010, the GTS will carry a sticker price of 115,000 Euros (almost Rs. 80 lakh). And just what do you get for the extra premium over the standard M3 coupe? For one thing, the 4.0-litre V8 engine has been enlarged to 4.4-litres and comes mated to BMW's new 7-speed double-clutch gearbox. The official specs haven't been released as of yet, but peak power output for this new car is rumored to be in the region of about 450 horsepower. The M3 GTS comes sans luxuries like an air conditioner, satellite navigation or even a radio for that matter. What you do get is a roll cage, six-point harnesses, a fire extinguisher and a kerb weight of just 1,490kg - that's 190kg less than the standard M3. But the best part - nine-time MotoGP world champion Valentino Rossi just test drove one... and he loved it!
