Brothers on the Road

Brothers on the Road

Road rage is a growing phenomenon in today's cut throat competitive world. Everyone seems to be in a rush and as the stress levels increase people on the road develop a total sense of intolerance. Coupled with rash driving and total callousness on our roads, driving in India has reached a level where you sometimes wish the cops would step up and really monitor driving habits.

Having said that, all cannot be left to the police to handle and in truth it is up to us to do our own part in making our roads safer. In line with this thought is an NGO that goes by the name of "Road Pe Raahi Bhai Bhai".

This unique NGO, formed by Vipin Suri and Bharti Chadha, caters to addressing road rage and rash driving from a ‘brotherly’ standpoint. By spreading the news of compassion and care for one another, this NGO has been taking great efforts in educating taxi fleet drivers as well as personal car owners on the nuances road rage and reckless driving. The message is to spread a brotherly love for one another on the road and show that by acknowledging one another and showing respect for other commuters.

Brothers on the Road

The functioning of Road Pe Raahi Bhai Bhai is where the true magic of awareness lies. Unlike other programs where a lecture on safe driving methods and road rules are dished out, this forum actually has managed to address the issue at a more basic level and that is why results are something that are bound to be found. Road Pe Raahi Bhai Bhai has taken the element of road rage and careless driving and made it an issue of courtesy and compassion. The bottom line is that if every driver on the road shows common courtesy and compassion for a fellow driver, then road rage and careless driving can actually be curbed. It?s in this simplistic approach that the awareness of Road Pe Raahi Bhai Bhai is catching on like wildfire across Delhi.

Brothers on the Road

The NGO does have hopes of going national and for those of you who do want to get in touch with Road Pe Raahi Bhai Bhai you can check out their website: www.roadperaahibhaibhai.com , or to get your unique sticker send your name and address via SMS to 59994.

The other day in Gurgoan, I came across a group of people talking to the crowd about something. I got a little curious. Then I was approached by one of the member from that group only to learn that they are all working towards a fabulous cause by the name of Road Pe Rahi Bhai Bhai. Frankly speaking I liked the name so much that I had to listen to him. What a cause I must say.. avoiding road rage and creating compassion on the road.while I was listening to him, I was also thinking that why shouldn't I be associated to something like this which we see everyday around us happening... the accidents.. fights.. arguments.. abusing each other.. I mean even if I cant help any one at least all I can do is create awareness and of course talk to people around me and I will do that for sure. I think I will be blessed being a part of such a fantastic cause. Not only did I ask him to put the sticker on my car immediately but but also ask for some more to give it to my near ones. | Reply
