| Japanese Car of the Year 2008-2009 - 'Toyota iQ' The Japanese Car of the Year Award has been taking place since 1980. The JCOTY as it is also known as is given to vehicles released in the market from November 1st of the previous year to October 31st of the current year with each award spanning two calendar years. The jury in the JCOTY primarily consists of Japanese automotive journalists.The 2008-2009 JCOTY was awarded to the diminutive Toyota iQ. A group of 65 jurors selected the iQ by more than 300 points over the next-closest finisher, the Citroen C5. The Nissan GT-R, Audi A4 and Jaguar XF rounded out the top five of the 41 new vehicles nominated for the award. |
