| | European Car of the Year 2008-2009 - 'Vauxhall Insignia' Established in 1964, the ECOTY was formed by a collective of automobile magazines from different countries in Europe. Some of the current organizers of the award are Auto from Italy, Autopista Spain and L'Automobile Magazine France. There are no categories or class winners for the ECOTY. The objective is just to find a single winner among all the competing cars. The 2008 ECOTY award went to the Vauxhall Insignia with the Ford Fiesta and the VW Golf notching up second and third place respectively. This being the third car of the Year award for Vauxhall, the Insignia garnered a lot of praise for its sporty silhouette, class-leading aerodynamics and innovative technology. |
