Tata Nano It all began with skepticism, but all that was converted quickly into a large surprise when the Tata Nano was launched. Aiming straight for the erstwhile lowest-cost-car, the Maruti 800, the Nano gives so much more for so much less! Undoubtedly the current best in what is the biggest segment of all - the Nano comes across as a delightful package with a powertrain well equipped to battle the daily city grind. Add to that stunning looks and brilliant packaging that has liberated oodles of space and you know the Nano deserves all the attention it has amassed in the past few years leading up to its launch. The only real foreseeable problem with the Nano is its availability. While you may not be able to walk into a Tata Motors showroom and buy one like you would any other car, the Nano is worth going through the lottery system and the subsequent wait thereafter in our opinion. And if that wasn't enough, the Rs 1 lakh base price at which it is available simply seals the deal. By the way, for all you sceptics out there who thought a low-cost car could never be safely built, the Nano has even passed European crash tests with flying colours!
