All new E-class launched!

Merc E-class

MBIL has finally launched the much awaited new E-class today. The new car promises to be leagues ahead of its predecessor on almost all counts. The new luxury sedan has been completely redesigned to match the German automaker's latest styling language, taking cues from the Mercedes-Benz Fascination concept that took motor shows by storm last year. Not just that, the new car borrows a lot on the outside and inside from the current generation S-Class, giving it even more aspirational value.

Another reason to look forward to the new car was the gadgetry associated with it. The car features Attention Assist which detects driver drowsiness based on seventy different parameters; Adaptive Main Beam Assist, which adjusts the angle of the headlight for the best possible illumination without blinding other motorists, Blind Spot Assist familiar from the S-Class; and Lane Keeping Assist, which uses vibrations in the steering wheel to inform the driver if they're veering out of their lane. Currently Mercedes as of now, has only come out with the 350 CGI variant equipped with a stonking V6 direct-injection petrol unit with diesels to follow shortly. The E350 CGI has been priced at Rs. 46.9 lakh ex-showroom Delhi. Keep watching this space for more.

I don't know why people are just singling out this beautiful Merc. Look at BMWs, Audi, Lexus overseas | Reply

gentle men...this is the only way some rich people ever pay some taxes...by paying twice on the cost...thank god the govt makes some mony...but otherwise...by coming away from roundish looks that never should hav been on mercs ...this new E class is very good...in looks and back seat comfort...in some angles though the looks are a bit complicated and a there are too many creases...but still a undeniable merc...and justifiably aspirational...atleast for some one who drives a corolla | Reply

Ummm...anybody who thinks that E-class is a sexed up version of the C, has no idea what he is talking about. It's true thopugh - you definitely pay much more in India for the same car. And Ashok - when your children are at the back, TALK to them. They are in front of the TV all day long anyway. Geeez - what's up with parenting skills in India??? | Reply

Status symbol for fools. Inflates version of entry level C class. Still poor steering, distinctly uncomfortable seating especially in rear (better for chauffeur than baboo). lagging well behind the competition in luxury cars. As for reliability, Hyundai outdid MB in the US. Not a good value at 50K (in US), really bad value at 100K(India) unless it's the hood ornament that amuses you | Reply

Every tom dick and harry is seen in Gulf driving E Class at petrol costing less than mineral water. Give good roads, India, and less traffic jams, we will not mind buying them at such heavy tax. | Reply

Not really 2E classes for the price of 1 overseas. Its 1.4 precisely. Apparently, customization for Indian roads ( read potholes .. etc.) they are charging more. Dont take it personal :-)But its an excellent car to drive. | Reply

Well its the govt to be blamed for exhorbitant prices of these cars and not Mercedes. And let not think of how many cars can be bought in the same money as we are in India, not abroad. | Reply
