BMW sets designs on the sky high life!

BMW subsidiary DesignworksUSA creates a revolutionary new design for Boeing Business Jets to carry corporates in style

So you fancy yourself an Air Force One? Well, even if you've got millions of bucks to spare, that's not going to happen unless you get yourself elected as the President of the United States of America. And even then, this fancy jumbo jet that doubles as the Oval Office and the President's house in the sky would only be available to you for four years (or eight if you were lucky enough to serve two terms). So the best alternative for those few multi-millionaires who do have money flowing out of their ears is to buy their own jumbo and get it customized (unless you happen to find something like this on lease).

Enter Designworks USA, a California-based industrial design company owned by the very famous German luxury car maker, BMW. Boeing Business Jets, a division of Boeing that specializes in making large corporate jet liners for the world's elite businesspeople commissioned DesignworksUSA to come up with an ultra-luxurious interior concept for their upcoming 787 Dreamliner, a twin-engine mid-size jet airliner that is scheduled to enter service in Feb 2010. What DesignworksUSA came up with was a concept that extends beyond traditional limits and makes a rather unconventional lateral use of space to create a multilevel open and flowing interior.

Starting at the cockpit, the first section of the Dreamliner acts as gallery and lounge for the along with a resting area for the crew. Just aft of the crew area is where things start getting interesting. The upper deck here houses an office to conduct business in which rests above two spacious guest suites and a medical room. The central part of the fuselage holds the largest single open area aboard the aircraft and here one can find a spectacular lounge and cocktail bar, followed by a large dining area and a kitchen. But the party piece of the lounge is a glass floor section through which one can the on-board garage which is large enough to fit the largest luxury cars.

If you fancy a movie after dinner, DesignworksUSA has put in a big cinema lounge that features a large projector screen and seating for about half a dozen people. For those who rate fitness above all else, the Dreamliner concept also comes equipped with spa and exercise area located just below the cinema lounge. The fantastic design concept culminates at the tail section with the most luxurious room of all, the master suite, which holds in a king-size bed and a bathroom fit for a king.

Since the aircraft itself is some time away from production, the luxurious concept interiors will remain just that - a concept, at least for now. But looking at the concept images, we can't help but imagine such an aircraft owned by a decadent rock band, living it up like the rock gods they are in the mile high club.

I Think this will be great. But only provided if they can keep up the cost rates which the other companies offer along with their customized boeing! Kudos to BMW anyways !! | Reply

Not very classy design, seems lacklusture. This seems barely'at par' for private jet, nothing exemplary, astounding or 'dazzling'. You guys ought to write articles with more of the 'wow' factor especially in such aspirational segments like private jets.. After all none of ur readers is actually gonna buy one, we are just here to read, enjoy and immerse ourselves in glorious halo of such fream products; so atleast show us some dazzling dreams... | Reply
