The Final Word

Ratan Tata was clear that by early 2011 production versions of the Nano Europa would go on sale on the continent and when I quizzed many European journalists who were taking a keen interest in the car, I could make out that they liked the utter simplicity of the car devoid the complexity which many European car makers have factored into their products making them both ponderous and pricey. Said a Swedish journalist "It is a cheap car but if they can get everything structurally right with peppy performance coupled to a pricing of six to seven thousand Euros would make it a great bargain." There the die has been cast and the target set. All it needs is for Team Tata to get the Nano up to speed for Europe. Chances are this could also lead to a Fiat badged version for South America and thinking out loud, a hotter breathed upon by Abarth rally-tuned version!

    I would prefer a Nano Europa over a manual Nano not only because of the AT but also because of the bigger Tyre - 14 instead of 13 thereby increasing riding comfort.Disadvantage of MT:1. Parking is done in Neutral Gear.- Not very good in newbies hand especially on hillslopes....if you know what I mean.2. A newbie could screw up the Manual Gears in one ride if he doesnt use the clutch properly...no such probelm with the AT.3. Cars with 5speed AT can do what a manual can do. Driver can use 1st, 2nd | Reply

    Giovanni, Yes ex-showroom price of base version is close $2500 but as of now it is available only in India. In future upgraded versions will be available in Europe but I have not heard any plans for US. | Reply

    Sudhir, what is the basis for your assertion that 1million Nanos can be sold in the US? Maybe, just maybe if Gasoline prices go up to $12/gallon. No one, other than an extreme tree hugger would want such a car. | Reply

    Buy the GM Saturn USA dealership network or team up with Roger Penske and bring this car to USA.I think 1 million cars per year can be sold in USA at $9,000 each, fully loaded. (Rs 4 lakhs)Bring it to America! | Reply

    Ratan Tata is the one of the great actual wellfisher of all Indian, who he imagine something extreme and showed it. Regarding all the people of India in their favor this Car is being made.     Tata - Nano Europa is simply superb design. I'm sure if the quality/pricing is smart and right it will sell like hot cakes in European Continent and all over the world which has boosted Tata- Motors Image and India's aswell.Mr. Ratan Tata and his team of designers have proven that they can do it and it is the next big thing after T-Ford and Volkswagen Beetleknown as people's car which comes out of Asia India. | Reply

    Nano is a fuel efficient car, which can potentially useful for tie2 and tier 3 cities where people are highly cost consious, also if the mantainence cost is low, then bikers can have a option to switch over to nano with preference in locations and driving area.Although It will be very tough for Nano to beet the competition of maruti,Hyundai in metros and Tier1 city.All the best for Nano | Reply

    You should note that the BMW 320 d has a fuel efficiency of 12 miles /litre , which is the same as that of the nano ... sofuel efficiency is definitely not a selling point. There are other bigger more powerful cars in europe with the same fuel efficiency .... | Reply

    The Tata Nano Europa is a perfect answer for those of us who are retirees and live in Arizona and Florida and who need transportation to drive for short distances around our community to go to groceries stores or to do some errands. I saw a Nano recently in display in Mumbai during a recent trip to India and I felt in love with that cute and reasonably priced car. My wife and I own 2 Mercedes Benz vehicles (a SUV and a sedan) and we have a place for a third vehicle in our garage for a golf cart. That place in our garage is now reserved for a Tata Nano Europa when that car is sold in the USA tentatively in early 2011. | Reply
